A beautiful space with genuine character run by an equally marvellous host, Julian. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, adorned with period furniture, antiques and artworks that will have you marvelling at every nook & cranny. I've never wanted to take pictures of a toilet before! ||||Lots of natural light and great views, since one side of the building is unobstructed, with a park entryway and the historic mural of the Battle of Cable St. Breakfast is simple and fulfilling, the dining/living room is a historic gem of its own. The terrace garden/seating area is a great place to read a book, have a smoke or just admire your surroundings.||||Despite the historic nature and style, all the amenities of modern living are present. Wifi is excellent, hot-water in the showers is instant. Julian has even provided powerstrips that have international conversion plug points and usb charging, so I didn't even have to pull out my socket converter. ||||Location is actually very well connected, station is spitting distance away and only one stop to Bank Station means you can switch to most lines quickly and easily. The neighbourhood retains it's authenticity and isn't overtly commercialised or tourist-inclined like the popular West London areas.||||I wish I could have spent the entire trip at Cable Street Inn. Don't hesitate and book asap as there are only 4 rooms in...
Read moreWe've stayed two times in this fabulous bed & breakfast and will hopefully return soon. Julian was very welcoming and helpful during the booking and stay. This former pub has been converted into a highly exceptional, romantic guesthouse. Beautifully furnished and decorated room as well as common area / breakfast room. Perfectly located in the East End, at walking distance from Tower Bridge, The City and Wapping area with its interesting history and beautiful walking and cycling routes, e.g. alongside the river Thames. Wapping is also home of one of London's oldest riverside pubs, The Prospect of Whitby. An absolute must-see! Both DLR and Overground train stations are around the corner and the bus to Central London (St. Paul's) stops in front of the door. There are also rental bikes just steps away. Our room (#1) was very idyllic, with a lovely, comfy bed and an ensuite with a bath and a separate shower. The eye for detail is exceptional. This room is located at the back of the building, with a view over the adjacent park and beautiful mural in memory of the Battle of Cable Street. The park closes at night, so there is barely any noise coming from outside during the nightly hours. This is my favorite B&B ever and I would highly recommend...
Read moreAn historic place with a lot of character and a unique charm that makes staying their memorable and a lot of fun.
Excellent location near a convenient rail route into London.
The Elizabeth line now means that, although the inn is located in the east of the city, it is very easy and straightforward to get there from Heathrow.
Julian and Jean are friendly and accommodating hosts, who are attentive and efficient but at the same time laid back and easy going.
Rooms are very clean and comfortable and the beds are nice too.
There is a garden terrace which is a relaxing spot for a cup of tea in the afternoon.
Overall, The Cable Street Inn is a wonderful option, which provides great value and the perfect accommodation for those seeking a place that is independent, small-scale, and a little different.
No hesitation at all in...
