đWapping đşÂ ÂŁ6.45 Posh Lager â¤ď¸ An excellent addition to the Wapping pub scene. . The Wapping Tavern is located on Wapping Lane in the heart of Wapping. The nearest station is Wapping overground which is a two minute walk. . This pub opened in Spring 22â and is housed inside what was an old spice factory. . As you enter the pub, you walk through a revolving door into a huge multi-level vaulted building. There are exposed timbers, ironwork and brickwork plus modern fixtures and fittings which make for a very contemporary feel. At the back on the upper ground floor is a long servery with the beer taps located at the back. Down in the basement is an area set aside to have a bit of fun and play games such as pool, shuffleboard, table tennis, foosball plus a few oldschool arcade games. There are all types of seating located all around the pub, I really liked the cosy booths with the TVâs. A nice touch here were the photos of Victorian boxers which are dotted around the walls. . The beer line up is vast and consists of up to 28 keg beers on tap including lots of London brewers. I decided on a pint of Posh Lager by Bermondsey brewers @forestroadbrew . I have had this beer a few times now and it never disappoints, price point was high though. The food menu is a Gastro style menu which sits alongside a pizza menu of 12â and 20â pizzas. . I visited just after 5pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place was buzzing with a predominantly younger crowd. This was good to see as most pubs around Wapping attract a slightly older crowd. The pub was showing the Man City v Sheffield Utd FA cup game on the numerous screens around the bar. I had a good wander around and was really impressed by the set up here. . The @wappingtavern was an enjoyable visit, I didnât know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The building is a great place for a pub with all the exposed beams and ironwork. The beer selection was great and the food popular. This is a good spot to watch the footy. I would definitely recommend a visit here but would suggest on a weekend when the pub is in full swing. . âšď¸ Info correct on...
Read moreStarting going a handful of times as I was new to the area - however, as many have already pointed out, the manager is unnecessarily rude. What seemed like a cool pub has over the last few visits gone down in my estimations.
Firstly being snapped at for having the audacity to ask whether a certain game could be put on in a pub showing multiple games.
Secondly, don't try and win their pub quiz. We won a quiz before Christmas, went to the bar with the signed paper saying we had a ÂŁ50 bar tab, to be told that they weren't going to honor it because you 'had to spend it in a month' and when we highlighted that there was no expiry date on the paper, we were palmed off with 'that person doesn't work here'. A bit of a weird way to treat people who are clearly starting to use your pub as a local - maybe admit your error and compromise?
Thirdly - we chose this place to watch the superbowl. Posters said 'drink and food specials'. The food special was 2/3rds of the menu not being on and 'only doing pizza'. As the blunt manager let us know.
A shame, what started as a pub with great potential to be my new local is probably somewhere I won't be...
Read moreOne of the worst services I've had in London. We booked a table to celebrate my birthday, and they gave us a table right next to the door, with some people already sitting there. Then, when my partner went to ask a ginger, bearded middle-aged gentleman who worked in this pub to put candles on the cake (bought previously) and bring it, the waiter brought a cake and just dumbed candles nearby. They didn't bring us any forks either. When my partner voiced his frustration, the waiter/manager seemed very rude, disinterested, and said 'we don't offer that kind of service' when asked to put candles on the cake for us. Birthday was ruined and all guests were quite upset - 0 customer service, 0 care about your customer, and frustratingly unprofessional attitude. I will recommend this place to no one. As someone who has to book several venues for job purposes, I see a lot of mediocre customer service, but this is by...
