First visit was lovely. Attentive staff, very good Sunday lunch. Gave me beef instead of chicken but no complaints as it was amazing. We had some great pictures of food and live music that they used for their Instagram.
However, I booked a table for the England vs Denmark game. 3 members of staff booked it in for 6pm (they said you couldn’t book for after that time as they’d take walk ins).
We turned up at 5:45pm to secure the table only to find out our table had been given away to some for 7pm! The table was empty until that time. We were told that the person that booked it in originally wasn’t there. They were - all 3 of them.
We were crammed outside and eventually told to leave as it had been booked for someone else. We had the table originally booked for 6 people. 4 of which had travelled over an hour to get there! So frustrating.
No apologies and just had to walk out. So disappointing as I was excited for this new pub. But I guess independent can sometimes mean giving away tables to whoever they please.
Not sure if I will go again. But I’ve left a...
Read moreNow i am being critical today. The place is a Guest House, not a b&b nor a hotel. It is upmarket and nice, but to make this work there are some minor issues. I paid £160 per night, for 2 nights in room 4, was on the first floor, with a door and a private garden area with chairs and seating. The whole setup was missing a few things, that are hotel prerequisites.
Paint peeling, please fix it. Please install a shower, bath only, I sat in the bath to use the attachment to shower myself! Used ash tray and lighters in garden area, not cleaned or checked. No desk, or chair despite the space available. I had to unplug a light to charge my phone and not near the bed. Had to move TV to plug in laptop charger. Finally, no iron and board.
Those grumbles aside, the room was quiet. The mattress was fantastic, as were the sheets. The coffee tea and breakfast bars and OJ are a great idea, but with that much attention to customer satisfaction, fix the other stuff first. Tiny issues, would stay there again, but not as a business trip, I need a desk,...
Read moreStayed for 4 nights here and it was a bit of a rougher experience than we planned for, likely wouldn't go back.
We got the ground level suite in the secret garden, which opens right on to the patio for the pub, so you get people smoking and drinking outside your room during the day.
Biggest issue is the room needed work. Paint was chipped, signs had fallen off the wall, there were missing fixtures in the bathroom, I couldn't get the air conditioner to work (though I never brought this up with staff so maybe I was doing something wrong). And the matress had some damage to it -- it was like there was a hole in the springs at one end, had to turn it around to make it sleepable.
Some of the rooms on the website offer daily service, but we never got room service while we were there.
The hositality was nice, there were complimentary snacks and bottles of water.
Location is fine, 5 mins walk from a tube station, it's a 20-30 mintue ride from most of the tourist...
