Stay away, racist and rude staff! Iâm a regular customer here and have been coming here for coffee for roughly a year (out of convenience) since I moved to the area. I visit cafes all the time and tend to have a pleasant experience with the staff in terms of building rapport, but something about the staff here feels off in the way they treat me compared to other customers. They tend to be way more chatty and communicative with other non Muslim/non brown customers but with me theyâve always been quite cold. Itâs very obvious who they want the demographic of their clientele to be.
I walked into the cafe at 15:10pm today and ordered a flat white to have in, the staff member immediately tells me they close at 4pm. Baring in mind Iâve been served by this person before and Iâm sure heâs familiar with my face, so as a regular customer heâd know that Iâm aware of the closing time. He didnât mention the closing time to any other customer that had come in after me which made me feel like he didnât want to serve me in the first place.
Secondly, I tried redeeming my free coffee stamp via the app but the scanner wasnât working. I told the guy Iâm one stamp away from a free coffee, is there anything they can do to fix it and he just shrugged his shoulders and said he canât help. Didnât even attempt to be helpful when normally someone would go out of their way to assist you.
Thirdly, I understand itâs cafe policy to not eat outside food on their premises, however I hadnât eaten all day and took one bite of a bagel I had in my bag whilst I was drinking the coffee, and as I was about to put the bagel away, the same guy who was circling around me, tells me in front of everyone I canât eat that here. I said Iâve got a coffee and he goes âweâre a restaraunt you canât eat that hereâ and walks off. I understand his point but I felt like he was singling me out particularly because of the other two scenarios that occurred. Also thereâs a way to talk to people and he was very rude.
Itâs clear they donât like brown/muslim people and want their clientele to be mainly turkish/white folk. As a regular customer youâd think they wouldâve treated me with a little bit more respect but that wasnât the case. The cafe really isnât all that for them to be acting like theyâre serving Arabs in Knightsbridge.
I wonât be coming back here and just to let you know, I am a food blogger and will be letting my followers know of this awful racist customer service. The man who served me had tattoos and a short...
Read moreNorth London's Woodberry Down is a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, and here you'll find a delightful café called Drury N4. It's part of the same family as Drury 188-189 in the city center. Their slogan, inspired by John Lennon's famous words. Plus, you can bring your dog along too!
âïž The entire cafĂ© has a great atmosphere, spacious and bright, with fast internet. It has two floors, perfect for working or studying.
đł When I visited today, they happened to be serving brunch. Drury's brunch is highly rated in London. If you search "London Brunch," they're usually at the top of the list.
For the two of us, we ordered an American breakfast, Wagyu burger, fruit and vegetable juice, and the daily special pancakes (dessert).
đ„ American Breakfast
The portions are substantial! Crispy yet tender fried sausages, crispy and tasty hash browns, crunchy and savory thin bacon, fried eggs sprinkled with black onion seeds, and small pancakes with mascarpone cream and berries. This hearty meal is incredibly satisfying if you're hungry in the morning.
đ Wagyu Burger
The Wagyu burger is tender and juicy, with double patties that burst with flavor. Topped with cheese slices, pickles, pickled onions, and served with fries, it's a meal that will keep any meat lover full for the entire day.
đ„đ Fruit and Vegetable Juice
Both the juices and smoothies are great, allowing you to taste the natural flavors of the fruits and vegetables. Highly recommended is the apple, celery, and ginger juice, which is refreshing and helps cleanse the palate.
đ„ Daily Special Pancakes
This dessert comes in a large portion, so it's best shared between two people. The flavor changes daily; todayâs was Baklava and pistachio. Rich pistachio cream is layered between stacks of pancakes, topped with crispy Baklava pieces, rose petals, and pistachio bits. Itâs beautiful, delicious, and full of exotic flavors.
âïžđ The environment at Drury N4 is truly great, with plenty of books around. When the sunlight streams in, sitting on the sofa with a coffee and a book feels very much like the perfect...
