My granddaughter who is 24 years old has visited Heaton park on numerous occasions walking her dogs ...but had not until Thursday 5th December visited the animal park ...as I was visiting her from London and we are both animal lovers se took this opportunity to visit the animal park ....what a disgrace....three donkeys housed in a tiny shed the two pigs not much better ...the ducks were up to their knees in water and mud... with which appeared to be very little shelter there ...what an upsetting disappointment....I asked two men who were unloading supply's into a shed .about the donkeys the older was really not very willing to say much...said this was their winter home and in summer they were out in the field ...winter in this country is at least 4 months so those poor animals are stuck in that tiny enclosure for all this time ....you should be ashamed of the treatment of all of these creatures in your care ...I would have willingly paid to go visit them to improve their conditions...

Heaton Park is an absolute gem! Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a family day out, or just somewhere to unwind, this place has it all. The grounds are beautifully maintained with plenty of green space, scenic views, and historic charm. The boating lake, animal center, and playgrounds make it ideal for kids, while the stately Heaton Hall adds a touch of history.
There’s also a great café, clean facilities, and lots of walking trails. I especially loved how spacious it felt – even on a busy weekend, it never felt overcrowded. Free entry and affordable parking are a bonus too!
Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike. A true escape in the heart...
