Very mixed feelings about this place.
First of all I’ll say that I love my food and coffee, and when I go out and pay for food, I expect to get something at least as good (preferably better) than what I eat at home. This was not the case at this coffee shop. The food was worse than average and the coffee was very poor- which is a real shame, as they have a lovely machine and a decent grinder, they just don’t know how to use them.
But the surroundings- well wow, this is really something spectacular. You can eat your meal in the most gorgeous greenhouse right in the middle of Heaton park, surrounded by beauty everywhere you look. This is the only saving Grace and the only reason I’ve not given one star.
For such a gorgeous setting, it really is a shame that the food and drink is so basic. It doesn’t make any sense in my mind, as this set and setting is deserving of high quality fare.
Price wise, you do get what you pay for. This was very cheap food reflective of the cheap quality, but if you are on a budget, then this might be the place for you.
The owners could benefit with taking a look around the Prestwich and whitefield food scene, and taking advantage of the incredible potential...

I like this place. It is a hidden gem tucked away within the gift shop in the garden centre. There are plenty of seatings in their greenhouse, 'back garden,' the terrace (just outside the café), and inside the café. However, they were really short staffed. There was a long wait to order your food and drink at the counter as I queued for 25 minutes around 2pm on a Saturday. Also, nobody cleared up the tables so many tables were either occupied by people or uncollected plates and cups.
The menu on the blackboard is small but reasonably priced in my opinion. I liked the cake display but it would have been better if they have labelled their food stuff with a price tag. I ordered a hot chocolate (£2.75) and minced beef pie with peas and gravy (£5.50). The food came really quick though - less than 10 minutes after I ordered. Food came hot in temperature. The portion was ok but the flavours were slightly on the salty side for my liking. It wasn't anything special.
I really enjoyed the ambience of this place surrounded by nature (plants) and the sun. I would recommend this place for relaxation but if you're here as a foodie, then I'd...
Read moreSecond visit here the food is not good! First visit we had two cheese toasties cheese was bland & tasteless thought maybe a one off so on the second visit we ordered home made pie chips gravy and a English breakfast. The pie was very salty which was the only flavour it had the peas and fries (not chips) were mediocre. The breakfast was disappointing to say the least, the bacon had black on it the sausage was very odd tasting the beans really cheap in a deep red sauce and whatever spread was on the toast tasted like cheap margarine. Such a shame as the cafe is in a gorgeous location and would be perfect for lovely food but this is a massive let down. Maybe call in for a drink and cake as the cakes are from Costco but avoid the food. Also the person in our party who had the breakfast was very ill for the rest...
