Poor customer service and an inequitable refund policy mars this climbing gym. Now they are additionally lying about me being 'unpleasant' to staff which is total nonsense. I have every message I sent, plenty of which they deliberately ignored. Staff are entitled to go on leave but there is no reason other staff or the owner could not have replied to my message and given a refund. Indeed, I got the refund from another member of staff.

A child of 7 could have calculated the refund.

My messages were nothing but polite, if, occasionally sarcastic - sarcasm that was fully deserved given the farcical way they dealt with a simple request to cancel a membership.

Any part of the message that referred to the inequitable refund and how I thought it was stealing from me, by a term that no reasonable or honest person would see as other than money grabbing, was aimed solely at the people who own the business and created that policy not the staff. Hiding behind your staffs "leave" and BS about "unkind" is pathetic. You are to blame, not your staff. Stop blaming them.

I pity the staff for having to work with you as much as I pity you for needing money that badly you have to be so dishonest to obtain it. Pass it on to them.

As for the terms being presented - unfair and inequitable terms are still unfair and inequitable terms if you post them to a website. They still suck and, as such your gym deserves the bad review twice over given...

Absolutely love this place, look forward to going back every time I leave. Me and my Girlfriend did the climbing course for top rope and have enjoyed climbing ever since. I have a bad back but stretching out on climbs in a safe manner is a great way to get a workout in, it's almost too fun to feel like you are actually working out. Good range of difficulties too for someone who's just starting out so you can build up and always have a goal set for another route, progression available for those who want to push themselves. Also love getting to share the experience with my partner great trust and bond exercise especially when you're belaying eachother. Full monthly membership is a steal considering they have weight facilities over at big rock bond too and you get access to both centres with your membership. That would be the only thing I'd say is missing from big rock hub sadly, which is a little sad as it's the better rope climbing of the two centers unfortunately. If they atleast had fingerboards up so you could deadhang I wouldn't mind so much. Still, sometimes it's nice just to go and focus on the climbing. Highly recommend, friendly staff, nice cafe and great climbing. My partner tells me the bouldering is...

Booked at fairly short notice for my 3 kids (17, 15 and 12) and myself on a bank holiday. The only option available was a private family climb session, which wasn't the cheapest, but in retrospect was very much worthwhile. The centre was easy to find, had plenty of parking along with decent climbing walls, bouldering area and facilities. The harnesses, helmets and boots were all of a decent standard, clean and in good condition. I had climbed a lot in the 1990s, but barely at all since, and my kids had only a small amount of experience. Our instructor Steph did a great job of ensuring we all had a safe and fun time without the safety aspects being overbearing. She quickly assessed my level of experience/rustiness, corrected a couple of mistakes and got me belaying my kids. Her instruction and encouragement had us all climbing at a more challenging level than I had expected, really quite quickly. The 90 minute session was more than long enough for us, with some very tired forearms by the end. Recommended, would...

A great occasional day out or as a frequent activity! We have just finished the beginners belaying course ( 8 hours of instruction for £80, plus a free months membership on completion) which I think is excellent value for money and great fun. A great way to keep fit and meet new people. The centre is vast and has numerous different levels of routes, that are changed often. I can always find an abundance of routes to challenge myself and my partner (we are at very different levels!) in both bouldering and belay/ropes routes. The centre staff are super helpful and very knowledgeable. There are social climb nights, courses to book on, as well as taster sessions, and kit to hire too. Much more fun than going to the gym. Can't wait to go back every week.

What a great place to spend day in. We went there as family of 4, children aged 9 and 6. As children first time climbers there where put in small group of 5 and instructor, who was really good with them in every way. We as parents didn't took part of climbing but we could follow the group and see what they were doing, which was great. The session was 1h 30min, which was plenty, kids where really enjoyed themselves. The session was really full on with attempts on all types of climbing challenges. Inside there is a coffe and food place with plenty of room for everyone. We went there on Saturday midday and I was pretty sure it's going to be very busy, but I was wrong, place is well accomadated and spacious. Definitely really good day out for anyone.
