I've never been to Butlins before, and although a have a few reservations about the resort, I can not find many faults with the pool itself. The water is warm, the rapids are rapid, there's a wave machine in one pool, a swimming area and a great young children area. I'm not a shoot man, but they are manned and have a traffic light system to make sure they are safe and there is a lots of attendants make sure everyone plays safe and no-one gets into trouble. The swim sessions are very long, by the time your session is up, you are more than happy that you've had plenty of fun. My whole family thoroughly enjoyed our time in the pool and it is a strong argument for us to have another holiday at Butlins resort Minehead.
However...
All is not perfect, the changing rooms leave a lot to be desired. This pool is in a family resort and the changing room cubicles and the lockers are very small, I struggled to change myself, let alone changing two young children at the same time, it was very stressful. Also, there is no way a family will get all their things in a locker unless you are lucky enough to get one of the few tall lockers. It's a shame that you end up finishing a lovely family swim with so...
Read moreGreat variety of water slides, including a family slide you can go on together in a boat, a fast slide that drops you into a plunge pool, a dark slide and another slide that's not dark but feels the same.
The Lazy river is a great place to relax and float around, though it can get quite congested in certain parts when it's busy. The Wave machine is a lot of fun for all ages however, it can get quite deep in certain places. The wave machine seems to run every 20 minutes for about 5 minutes at the time.
The Pool is clean and well-maintained, unlike the changing rooms, unfortunately most of them smell like urine. Lifeguards are attentive and friendly, they are very hands on and it is quite common to see them in action, jumping in and checking on children whose parents leave them unattended.
Queues can be long to, especially on busy days. Time slots are limited, so you may not be able to stay as long as you want. Some of the water slides can be quite scary for younger children. Overall, Splash Waterworld is a great water park with something for everyone. However, if you are planning to visit during peak season, I would recommend arriving very, very VERY!!!! Early to...

Vending machines can be found on reception and spectator area, but often broken and are the responsibility of the onsite shops to maintain, not the lifeguards.
like all pools, they do sessions bands during busy times, one new session every 30mins, with each session lasting 1hr30mins. Busiest in the mornings, quietest around 1pm onwards.
Cleanliness: The pool is outdated but kept as clean as possible, considering shoes are allowed to be worn in changing areas & negligent minded people like hiding used nappies in lockers (despite bins available) or throw Talc powder everywhere while drying themselves.. all could be easily fixed with some basic pool rule changes.
Fun pool, lazy river with 4 slides available, if you like slides come at quieter times as queues are huge in the mornings.
No spa or gym...
