Newquay Orchard is a relaxing outdoor space where you can enjoy a walk in the small 'wild wood', picnic on the grass terraces, or explore the wide variety of plants and herbs across the hillside for sustainability and in harmony with wildlife.
There are nice clean toilets available in the cafeteria, and sand/gravel paths, so a bit tricky, but not impossible for wheelchair users.
Newquay Orchard also offers various short term activities such as meditation, yoga, photography, art and woodwork, so sign up and give them a try!
While there's no parking on the site, there is limited parking just directly opposite, below the car park for Newquay Sports Centre.
It's nice to see school students choosing to walk through the gardens after school, as it's clear they find it relaxing and enjoyable. There's always cheerful banter, and the children develop a respect for their environment.
Dogs are welcome on leads, and there are dog-poo bins around the site so don't forget your poo-bags!
Recommended sturdy shoes or boots, just as you'd expect on a nature-friendly site.
The Orchard is next door to the Sports Centre, with the main entrance discreetly signposted by the footpath, and you walk up through an archway of young apple trees (espalier). It's deliberately kept low key and not over commercialised, to preserve its calming atmosphere.
You can order bags of fruit n veg if you sign up to their monthly 'Grow' service via their website. Fantastic fresh produce, locally sourced and always in season, best for a healthy lifestyle. You can also find them on Instagram (at Newquay Orchard).
The cafe is under new management (Heart and Soul) and their food is always fabulous! Enjoy an early walk and a hearty breakfast or lunch afterwards. I especially enjoy the coffee and home-made cakes, and special evening events!
Opening times are generally 9am - 3pm most days, but check out their website/social media and put a date in your diary....
Read moreThis is an incredible gem in the heart of Newquay and plays an invaluable role in the community. Have visited the cafe on a few occasions and it offers a great selection of food which more often than not is made with the produce grown on site. I have also done a course here and it offers some brilliant opportunities to learn about sustainability and how to live a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. The staff here are brilliant and are so clued up on nature and employment. It’s just all round generally a really nice place to visit. Also a great place for a dog walk. Really can’t think of anything that could...
