OK, so this is a nice little zoo. Staff are friendly and they seem to do their best for the animals... Well, they can only work with what they're given to work with I guess. The place is clean and tidy, however the poor zebra and lions and linx. They have hardly no room to move about, especially considering they have to spend their lives in their. The enclosures are small (I have put pictures on here to see) the lions are not able to run, and there is 3 of them in here with a small/tiny inside area and no stimulation (my back garden is the same size as their enclosure, and it's by no means big). The zebra and wild buffalo have stables and the outside looks like its a small bit of concrete to 'spread their legs', it's a sad life for them. It said there was moneys, however I did not see them in their enclosure, inside or out... However, that being said, the other animals seemed to have quite abit of space, especially the otters which were very cute. It's not very expensive to get in here, maybe put the prices up a little and make the lion and other bigger animals enclosures a little bigger and more stimulating? Oh, the little pygmy coats were super cute and very friendly, even one of them come running over for a neck rub and stayed there for a while until I loved myself☺️ The team are fab, I'm sure they would like to be given abit more to improve the life of the animals, its clear they care about them just by watching how...

What an amazing little zoo!

Was unsure what to expect when it was suggested we visit Newquay Zoo as I had heard some very mixed reports.

I, however could not find one fault with the entire place.

The animals all looked to be in great health and the enclosures were well maintained and seemed fit for purpose. There were various talks during the day and we were lucky enough to time it to see the lions and other animals eating their lunch.

The lions were a particular favourite of mine and when we arrived the 3 of them were sat up high on their decked area - out of the way but still visible. About 30 minutes later they were down wandering around, play fighting, patrolling and uh, "being intimate". At one point we witnessed the male lion mark his territory through the fence... hitting a gentleman who was stood right in front of the "Spray Zone" sign. He was unimpressed but it pleased 20+ people who witnessed it. Haha.

Price wise the zoo doesn't attempt the quick cash grab and has very reasonable prices. Parking is a stones throw away and the disabled bays are close to the entrance.

The gift shop has the same pricing structure as many premium attractions but doesn't "ram" it down your throat, offering similar items at a lower cost also.

Every staff member, from the woman on the gate to the man collecting bags of leaves was polite, happy and seemed to be enjoying their jobs.

Will...

We bought our daughter a zoo-keeper experience at Newquay Zoo for her birthday. £70 for the day and TOTALLY worth every penny. The £70 gets you a one-on-one experience day and it is definately hands on!!! We were met at reception by Alex and we were given a zoo-keeper tee shirt, badge and, most importantly, a bucket of food for the animals. I have to give full credit to Alex. He was absolutely fantastic with Summer (my daughter). His humour, attitude and attentiveness was nothing short of phenomenal. Summer loved every second of the day. She fed the monkeys and got up close and personal in the enclosure. She was actively involved in the 'talk' given to members of the public, prepared the food and fed the peguins, otters, meerkats. She also helped with preparing all the food, the cleaning up as well as being taught about various animals around the zoo. Although Summer is only 10 they got her completely involved - too the point that she was feeding the animals dead mice, live crickets, etc (all very hygienic with gloves and regular washes, etc.) She was also given a goodie bag and free lunch. The day was nothing short of fantastic and she (and we) shall remember it for years to come. The zoo itself, although small, was extremely clean and well kept and the animals were clearly loved and looked after. Would I pay it again? Hell yes! Well done Newquay Zoo and to Alex who is a credit...
