What can I say about Derry that hasn't already been said here. The most wonderful, amazing and enchanting place I think I've ever been to. If you don't know the history of Derry you need to dispense with Google and news papers and come here and be enlightened about how wonderful these people are. I've never felt a stronger sense of community and ownership of a home. Clean streets, fair prices and most of all friendly people who just want you to know about their history. "A nation that keeps one eye on the past is wise. A nation that keeps two eyes on the past is blind." Book a walking tour and visit the places and stories of a marginalized community, who were subdued, beaten, discriminated against and murdered by forces of the Crown. You will then see how, through determination of spirit and forceful resistance, their stories give hope to other communities and races who are being opressed at this time.
There are plaques, monuments, remembrance gardens, artistic murals (proper hand painted murals, not printed plastic ones like in Unionist areas of Belfast) and stories from local people.
Take the time to understand the suffering this community was...
