The clock tower is visible from my bedroom and I can walk to this place in 5 minutes. Been here hundreds of times and know it well. It's very close to Beeston, but classed as being in the Nottingham city boundary. Another typical English style garden landscape with a lake that looks like 2, a few small bridges, small woodlands and spinneys, streams, a Japanese style garden with a rock pools and small artificial waterfall, lots of trees and wildlife, even some caves and small cliffs. You can rent a boat out on the lake. Quite hilly in places and a good place to sledge when snowing. A kids park at the top end with parking, toilets and a cafe. A good family day out that costs nothing to visit, with good footpaths that are suitable for the elderly and disabled. The tram stops just outside 2 gates, for those who don't have a car. There is also a good cycle track that goes along the whole length of the park on the road side. The transport links around Nottingham and Beeston are very good for locals, visitors and tourists. The Nottingham Tennis Centre is right opposite this place on the other side of the road which the tram...
Read moreI must have driven past this place a gazillion times and always wanted to visit. 💯 worth it. The Sun, like in all cases, made it look even better!!! We got to one of the entrances seeking to find car parking. We were told there were 3 car parks. The representative at the desk directed us to a FREE car park for guests, otherwise you’d have to pay. The Perfect Car Park outside the Arts Building leading you on to the walk around the lake. A beautiful, well maintained area. There is also a provision for ‘crazy golf’ and also boating on the lake. (£5 per person for an hour). A very picturesque place to go boating. I would recommend this over Matlock due to the views and the size of the Lake. There is also a waterfall at the end of the lake which is a perfect spot for a family picture or a quick selfie 🤳🏽. The grounds make you realise how big the University is, as some of the campus buildings are built around the lake. Absolutely stunning buildings. A highly recommend place for families, couples, friends...
Read moreHighfields Park on The University of Nottingham main campus allows the public to enjoy and appreciate the fantastic scenic sights that many students get to see daily. It is similar to the nearby Wollaton park in some respects, such as possessing gorgeous woods and a lake in addition to a children's play area. However, for a small price, there is also a minigolf and footgolf course or the boating lake to enjoy meaning that slightly older children can also be entertained. The nearby Djanogly arts centre also has a museum that visitors can view with changing exhibitions. The lakeside arts cafe is open most days and serves a range of hot and cold foods and drinks and is where the main visitors parking is for Highfields. It offers outdoor seating allowing for the views of the lake to be taken in on the more pleasant days. The lake itself has many wild birds that live on and around it, such as Canadian and Egyptian geese, coots and swans with the...
