It is part of the flood defences and creates a pond and wetlands for birds animals and plants, I often see Deer first thing in the mornings and the grasslands are usually home for 6 old English cows ( Belted Galloways presently) It lays beside the railway line so you can also watch the different types of trains coming and going through! This in no way detracts from the reserve itself.

Good for birds. Spoilt by selfish dogwalkers not cleaning up after their dogs. Also, dogwalkers not following the signage to keep dogs on a lead. Disagree strongly with one reviewer who thinks nettles should be cut back and tidied up! It's a nature reserve,...
