The tennis courts in Ashton Park were always busy this time of year but not now thanks to Preston Councils profit before people. The new tennis courts look very nice. I didn't know they were now pay to play until I arrived. Tried to use the Qr booking system but it would not let me book until the 26th despite the court being empty. I can't see them being accessible for the majority of people. Well done Preston Council for making the recreational facilities inaccessible during the summer.

Ashton Park in Preston is a beautiful green space offering a peaceful escape from the city. It features open fields, woodlands, and well-maintained pathways, making it ideal for walking, jogging, and picnicking. The park also has a children’s play area, sports facilities, and a lake that attracts local wildlife. It’s a great spot for families, dog walkers, and nature lovers looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Nice large circuit (approx. a mile). Concrete path all around, but loads of pine cones all over certain parts of the route, so wheelchairs beware in autumn! Had previously visited spring/summer and the path is completely clear and accessible then. Different elements to the path, so nice for a relaxing wander with the pup! Loads to sniff!

Big beautiful green park in the centre of Ashton. Good sports facilities for football and a couple of small children's areas which also have some gym style equipment for adults.

There is a medical facility nearby, and a small hidden garden which is open to the public if you know its there which is very peaceful. Also there is a lawn bowling club which may be open to the public (not sure) and tennis courts.

The park has a pathway right round from Ashton to larches which makes a pleasant walk or jog.

Its really well connected to local facilities and bus routes and there is a generous free car park behind the medical practice as well as some smaller parking areas scattered around the perimeter.

It has several large trees which are especially attractive in spring and autumn when you can collect conkers or enjoy...

We've been to the play area and outdoor gym a fair few times. It's alright - nothing fancy, but it does the job. That said, the self-closing gates don’t actually close themselves, which makes it easy for the odd dog to wander in and cause a bit of chaos.

On our latest visit, things took a turn for the worse. There was an adult having a go at teenagers, while teenagers were picking on younger kids. Bit of a soap opera, really - just without the cameras. Not exactly the safe, fun space you'd hope for. What’s the world...
