This place is certainly unique. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the location alongside the atmosphere is absolutely stunning. Personally, I would most definitely recommend a table in the upstairs restaurant, not only is it quiet and calm but it also has a decent view. As for the food, I don't think I could really complain about a thing! I've went with the house burger, which was absolutely delicious, in fact it was that good I found myself lacking my finger tips once I've finished 🤣🤣. My girlfriend went with the chicken fajitas, and as you could probably tell from the photos, the presentation is simply beautiful, and it was as tasteful as it looked. One thing we both liked about the fajitas is that you can essentially make it yourself, which at first we thought was silly since, we're paying to not have to do it ourselves at home 😂 but it actually worked out great, she could try different combinations and overall really enjoyed her meal. You can also probably tell that the portions are good. I'm 6"8 and that burger was more than filling, in fact half way through I had doubts whether I could finish it or not 😅. As for the fajitas, we didn't manage to eat all of it. But! They take no offence in asking for a takeaway box which I thought was absolutely amazing!! Because we enjoyed the rest of it at home watching TV 😇. And just to mention the drinks... they were just right 🙏🏼 I purposely ordered a Mojito because I've had the privilege of having some of the best monitors made for me by professional bartenders in countries like Spain, Italy or France therefor I wanted to see how a UK restaurant measures up. And while it wasn't the true "beach side" Mojito, it sure wasn't a bad one. It was worth the £6. However, the reason I've given it 4* instead of 5*... is mostly boiling down to the menu. While everything else was fantastic, the menu was the first impression we had about what we were having that night, and it wasn't the best impression. The individual dishes haven't been properly titled so and there wasn't any space between them so when one line ended, another started so I wasn't sure what was what really. Unfortunately I haven't taken a picture of it so I can't show it, but it was a little bit of a mess. And another critique was that there were no prices on the menu. 😅 I didn't mind paying more because I knew it was meant to be a "fancy" restaurant and I've had £100 set aside for it... but coming in and seeing no prices at all made me feel like they don't want us to know how much we're spending because we might not eat anything 😂😂 But coming to the end and seeing the receipt, the prices were rather acceptable too. £14 for an absolutely delicious burger? £16.50 for (basically) a tray of food? And £12 for 2 cocktails? That is not a bad price. Plus they take away the deposit you've paid, off of the total price therefore it's actually not bad at all. Considering, if I were to compare it to pizza hut, which we like to go to fairly often, we usually leave paying around £55 🤔 so £51 for a really nice experience as well as a delicious meal, I think this place is really good! Much recommended!

I haven't been in Fat Boar since pandemic, and thought I would give it a go again for a nice family sunday meal, the experience wasn't great tbh, food was good can't complain on that, but service on the other hand, well there was none and they charged 10% for that. when we entered the restaurant we chose the table outside, we've been given the menu cards and off you go. I was waiting about 15 min and none of the waitress came to the table, I went to the bar and they told me we need to order the food at the bar, a bit strange for a restaurant especially that it wasn't too busy. I've ordered the food and 4 drinks, the lady didn't even offer to help me to take the drinks to the table outside so i had to go twice, the food was served initially without the cutlery but the waitress brought some when she served more food, my son got less fries then my daughter on their plate but other than that the food was good. After we finished we were waiting quite a long time for someone to come in clean the table and serve the deserts or even ask if we want something else to drink, but in the end we decided to go home and take desserts home as we were getting annoyed, they gave us waffles without the ice-cream but only realised later. I'm normally happy to leave the tip for a good service but they decided to add 10% service charge to the bill without even asking, so it cost me 10% for the waitress to bring my food to the table and nothing beyond that. Very poor defo not going back, had a much different experience in their competitors 200 yards away.

We ate here late on a Sunday afternoon, mainly to get out of the rain and we were hungry. Staff were pleasant and quick at taking orders etc. The building is tastefully decorated and there was a good mix of customers. The good bits! However... We ordered 2x roast dinners and a pint. Unfortunately, both dishes were bland and beige. Veg was soggy and tasteless and the bowl of cauliflower cheese looked and tasted like baby food. Disintegrated cauli in luke warm sauce. The thin, curled up slices of beef were of poor quality and also lacking in flavour. The red cabbage was nice but that's about it. I've been wanting to give the Fat Boar a go for a while but it was really disappointing. We may have been unlucky, maybe it was end of service (the veg at least looked like it had been cooking for some time.) Our plates were cleared but nobody asked how our meals were (maybe they knew the answer already) and we weren't offered sweets, although we would have declined based on the food so far. £31 for 2 mediocre meals isn't something we could recommend and sadly, won't be returning. (The mobile food van at Eagles Meadow afterwards looked and smelled much more inviting. A better option next time.)

We've been coming here about twice a month since it opened. It's gastropub style dining and if you eat off the set menu it's good value. They use good quality ingredients however the execution isn't always matching the quality of the ingredients with dishes often missing ingredients, cold or over cooked and dry. Staff are usually lovely and bubbly and welcoming.

Given the hit and miss execution of the food we now only ever eat off the set menu as the usual menu is expensive for what usually arrives. It feels like a lot of the food is precooked and then reheated ( the last time I had lunch there I was literally in and out within 20 minutes and I had 2 courses!)

Our recent visit wasn't a great experience, we decided to try brunch and had high hopes. We were 'greeted' by some sort of junior manager who was rude and abrupt and made us feel like our presence was a great inconvenience, the place was pretty empty with only 2 other tables occupied. He pointed us to a table in the bar area we weren't quite sure which one, thankfully he only served us our drinks which he practically threw at the table, I asked for honey for my tea and was told there was non, I asked if he'd mind checking with the kitchen and he huffed off returning moments later to shout from half way across the room 'we've run out'. The lady who took our food order was much more pleasant but it took a long time to arrive even though we were the only order and all 3 of our orders came out wrong, full boar breakfast coming without eggs (?!) Bacon waffles arriving without bacon and the other breakfast coming with tomatoes we asked not to be included they all went back and then came back cold and over cooked we couldn't wait to get out as we'd been there 1.5 hours.

We had the impression that no-one was quite ready for a breakfast service and joked they were probably all hungover it was such a shambles. No apology, no offer of discount or additional drinks as ours were all cold by the time the food arrived.

We won't be eating brunch here again as it was poor (not just the experience but the food also) but will return for event evenings and the lunch set menu. In summary, great location, nice venue, usually lovely welcoming staff, good quality ingredients but food hit and miss and expensive off the a l carte for the execution. Great value set menu and good event evenings such...

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene I said don't mind, but what do you mean, I am the one Who will dance on the floor in the round? She said I am the one, who will dance on the floor in the round She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one Who will dance on the floor in the round People always told me be careful of what you do And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts And mother always told me be careful of who you love And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son For forty days and forty nights The law was on her side But who can stand when she's in demand Her schemes and plans 'Cause we danced on the floor in the round So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice (Do think twice, do think twice) She told my baby we'd danced 'til three, then she looked at me Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no) 'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby People always told me be careful of what you do And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts She came and stood right by me Just the smell of sweet perfume This happened much too soon She called me to her room Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son She says I am the one You know what you did, (she says he is my son) breaking my heart babe She says I am the one Billie Jean is not my lover Billie Jean is not my lover Billie Jean is not my lover Billie Jean is not my lover (don't Billie Jean) Billie Jean is not my lover Billie Jean is...
