Visited on 19th July so called freedom day. My first visit impressions. Arrived about 9:30am, the park was relatively quite. Parking meters not working all undergoing an upgrade. Caused a few issues for several of us. A well know parking app solved the problem. The museum is closed on Monday so didn't get to see what it has to offer. We used the small café round the back of the museum for a coffee mid morning which offers some limited seating outside. Parts of the park offer lengthy sections of shaded walking which was welcome on this very hot day. Lots of spots to set up and have a picnic.
A big part of the attraction is the amusements park. By mid day it has become moderately busy with a second food spot near the amusements opening up selling candy floss etc. The water splash area wasn't open. The park also offers a walled garden focusing on growing crops and some flowers harking back to the past 200 year history of the location. For families and couples wanting a pleasant walk, Clifton park provides a couple of hours of enjoyment and more...
Read moreAwkward and bizarre. As soon as you enter this place you will be asked to 'provide your postcode' by the member/members of staff in the main entrance hall. I have been in many museums (all of which are far better than this place) and have never been asked to 'provide my postcode'. It is patronising, bizarre and awkward to unexpectedly be asked for your postcode as soon as you enter the building for the first time. If the people who run or manage this place want to actually make a good impression on visitors, they should start by ditching their bizarre practice of asking visitors for their postcode. It is a fairly small museum and doesn't have much content in comparison to other museums in the UK. In addition to this there is an awkward and strange atmosphere about this place and the attitude of certain staff members probably contributes to the overall weirdness of...
Read moreGreat traditional day out with the kids, gardens are well kept and you can happily set up picnics and such for free and enjoy all the activities in the park area. There are plenty of kids play areas which are free to use and a few more extravagant ones that require a small fee to be paid to enter. Splash and paddling pool area is good and is also free to use with the park choosing to make money from drink, snack and ice cream stalls instead but you are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. Dogs are allowed on leads in most of the grassy areas and makes for a nice walk with your dog. There are sometimes fairground style rides and attractions here too, charged per use. Car parking is available, plenty of spaces but due to the vicinity of the town centre it isn't free. Parking is pay and display and...
