Boulder Central - Indoor Climbing — Attraction in Sandwell

I came here for the first time as a new climber 2 weeks ago and have since been coming regularly as well as signing up to the membership as I loved it so much! The staff are super friendly and the cafe is nice with the cost reasonable! The only downside is when some parents bring their children and let them run rife. I came for a session and I was on the top out boulder and there was kids running around on the top and also coming up the " climb down " only part. This was both dangerous and annoying. Also kids running below where your climbing which is also very dangerous as shown in the introduction video everyone watches. I think the staff need to try clamp down on enforcing the rules to make it a more enjoyable experience for both people who are there for an experience and for the regulars. Need to make sure Boulder Central gets a review it deserves. A friend of mine introduced me to bouldering by taking me to Boulder Central. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating, kind and helpful. I purchased a membership immediately after my first session.

I really see that the same regulars frequent this climbing gym and there’s an amazing community aspect. Given that I’m a complete newbie, there were slight fears of being judged and all sorts. But my experience so far has been the complete opposite. Receiving advice and encouragement from much more proficient climbers has been a huge drive from me to keep coming back.

Oh, can’t forget social Friday nights where you can get a drink and cake. Hearing that bell when the drinks were ready gave me primary school vibes when it was...

First session here. Filled out a registration form online, and booked my session online with 45mins notice. Carpark is small but no issue getting a space, staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. Coronavirus precautions are sensible and nicely laid out. The building is bright and inviting, mats and walls clean too. The walls have a great mix of grades, and the grades have a variety of different hold types. As a novice my grip lets me down most, but I found plenty of problems within my range. Impressive amount of kid friendly problems too, will definitely bring the little one in the future!
