Hean Castle Estates have made an excellent job of making this a functional car park (though I miss the sand dunes I used to play in/on in my childhood 😥) whose charges are very reasonable, and constructing an environmentally friendly building housing an award winning restaurant, a dog friendly cafe, a shop and other amenities (toilet and beach shower) and to include a unit for bicycle rental and a paddle board school. It's a proverbial stones throw from Saundersfoot village across the blue flag beach or through a tunnel following the old tram route to the harbour. It's also a great starting point for walks... Up over the cliff path to Wisemans Bridge (and a pub) or through two other tunnels along the old tramway. The area is steeped in history which can be read up on, on signs in the carpark or by obtaining (usually from local tourist information points) the tenth of the 10 pocket sized booklets available of the Pembrokeshire coastal path journey. It explains the historical coal mining industry etc, and the origins of the horseshoe shaped rock formations you can see when you walk on the tramway to Wisemans Bridge at low tides. Then there's the beach itself... very pretty and picturesque with a fresh water stream, rock formations, soft and hard sand, and loads of pebbles and shells. Go investigate... You won't be...
Read moreAs a dog owning family we always find it difficult to find beaches that allow dogs in the summer months that arent the unloved corner of the beach. Not the case here. If anything dogs have access to the best part!
Massive open spaces when the tide is out. Perfect for the dogs. Our 2 girls loved the shallow water the beach affords. The rocky section was crab-a-plenty if you have a net. Easily an hour catching and releasing!
Car parking charges are less than other places we've been to which is nice. If youre going to the area for the week and will be spending days here then you can buy a week ticket.
The shop is nice, toilet facilties great. Cafe is handy although small for the amount of people. We're also cake lovers and were disappointed with the cake quality but its such a small part of the attraction that I cant mark it down. Coffee was nice. You can hire bikes and paddleboards too. The part of the coast is perfect for paddleboarding. Calm and flat for most of the day.
Car park is huge and we still got in at 1pm (overflow). Early August and it wasn't what I would call busy. Plenty of people but...
Read moreWe're very lucky indeed to have such a beautiful cosey small beach as Coppet Hall within easy walking distance of our holiday home. Very clean & safe with lovely soft sand & gorgeous outstanding views in every direction, regardless of the weather. There are plenty of car parking spaces too. At low tide it's possible to walk left along the beach to nearby Wisemans Bridge or Amroth, or turn right for a beach walk around into Saundersfoot village in the next nearby cove. Every necessary facility & convenience, including a cafe & bicycle hire shop are available literally at the edge of the beach itself. It's also just a couple of minutes walk through the coastal path tunnels (also right off the beach) into Wisemans Bridge or beautiful Saundersfoot village & harbour. I've been regularly staying as often as possible in this beautiful area of Pembrokeshire, for more than 50 years since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and it's never ever lost any of it's magical sparkle for me, especially during Christmas & New Year! For me, there is no better place to be in the...
