The Tramway Cafe — Restaurant in Wales

Nipped in here for a bite to eat and to get out of the horrendous rain yesterday. Ended up staying 90 minutes whilst we enjoyed a selection of baguettes, paninis, waffles and sundaes, and very much enjoyed it all.

I'd like to draw attention to the insert at the back of the menu, where Chris makes mention of the current cost of living crisis, and the way that the business is trying to help the local community with free food for the desperate. It's a wonderful touch, am not local but feel it's important to call out where you see communities working hard towards betterment. Also makes reference to the staff being on better than minimum wage, and expecting another raise in April. We had the most wonderful day in Saundersfoot yesterday 22nd May. We called in the Tramway for a hot drink and light meal to keep us going. Upon entering it appeared to be a lovely eating place, clean, well maintained and welcoming. I decided on a bowl of chips and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was just what I needed, sadly the chips were not to my liking, but if I could have actually opened the vinegar sachets it might have added a bit of flavour. It took my friend a good while to open any sachets, by this point I'd given up. I did eat what I could as it was going to be a long drive home. My only bug bear were so many dogs and music unnecessarily loud. Nothing wrong with background music but that is what it should be. Turned up for a coffee and cake...Sat inside after a rainy day beginning of August..staff were young & inexperienced ..seemed to be a little uninterested in helping us. The place was filthy...floor doesn't look like its been cleaned for absolutely ages...tables...well they were really dirty...we wiped them down with our own antiseptic wipes...so dirty and brown..so it goes to show that there is definitely NO antibacterial cleaning going on in between customers in that place with Covid rules. Food out on the side.. strawberries in particular left open on the side with flies on them...yuk !!.Extremely disappointed...family didn't want me to comment to staff regarding this....just a very unorganised and clearly unhygienic cafe. We will definitely NOT...
