The play park is great for kids of all ages. The animal park is improving, exhibits have more enrichment since the last time we visited, animals appear happy and many were playful making most of good weather.
Only thing letting down my review was the cafe, very busy and at times service was slow, there must be a more efficient way to run the queue, as soon as coffees are ordered the queue stops moving and orders stop being taken. The cost of the cafe was too much. 2 x tea was £4.80. The food although tasty is not good value. £4.55 for an ordinary bowl of vegetable soup with bread. A bowl of stovies and a few oat cakes was £7.50. For a self service cafe I think this is extortionate.
Car park far too small for the numbers that visit on a nice weekend day. Very difficult to manoeuvre around, a few near misses between cars then add in pedestrians, an accident waiting to happen.
I would go back with a picnic on a nice day, there are not many options if...
Read moreBrilliant playground to amuse children of all ages for hours, with a number of smaller, enclosed playgrounds for the younger children and other, more open playgrounds for older kids. There are toilets and even a shop for snacks and icecream in the summer. We often take a picnic lunch to have at the picnic tables or on the big grassy hill and stay for most of the day. It's great in all weathers as you can shelter under the eaves of the toilet/shop building if necessary - and in mid-winter the little ones have a great time sledging on the usually grassy hills and gentle slopes around the playground areas. Only giving 4 stars as one of the many playground areas needs to be fixed up a little as it's obviously the oldest one and some of the climbing frames need a little repair. Everything else...
Read moreQuite simply there are far too many cars allowed into Camperdown Park. So much for Dundee City Council pursuing 'greener' policies. Furthermore, the roads are narrow and there's always a free-for-all when it comes to parking. The passing places and turning areas are always clogged up by inconsiderate and there is little or no regulation by the park staff. That also applies by the almost universal disregard for the few disabled spaces on offer. And absolutely NO enforcement of the speed restrictions, if there are any.
Ban cars and make people walk through the park. The exercise would do most of them the world of good.
Then there's the question of dogs being banned from the children's play areas. Almost totally disregarded and, again, not even a token gesture at...
