The facilities are great however the rudeness of a staff member has ruined this for me. I queued up and as someone walked away from the reception I went up as I thought it was my turn only to be abruptly told to wait because the lady was serving someone and pointed to a gent reading the gym rules. I wanted to sign up for a corporate membership as I’m an NHS worker. I brought my badge in as proof and the lady was very rude. Initially she told me I’d have to pay the whole year up front if I wanted a corporate membership, after saying I’d leave it then she double checked and Infact I could sign up monthly so I filled the form out. The whole process felt like an interrogation, I asked how much the add on is for minis as I have a 3 year old son. She said ‘and who’s paying for it’ rather sharply. Clearly me as I’ve just filled the direct debit form out? I explained I was paying and it was for my son. She looked unimpressed and pressed me saying ‘YOUR son?’ I actually felt really judged in this moment for being a younger mum as if she didn’t believe me. After clarifying that my son is 3 she said I didn’t need to add him on as he’s free until he’s 5. I did query why it was an option on the form if it wasn’t needed but was assured it wasn’t needed. I was with my dad and brother and she was even said to my dad ‘oh another one of yours, how many more are going to appear?’ Where I again felt like she was judging him for the number of children he has as it wasn’t said sounding curious. A few days later I tried to take my son swimming at the Cupar pool, only to find out he DID need a pass otherwise he’d cost £1. The staff at Cupar were lovely and I re-filled in the direct debit form and got a card for my son. I just feel like the whole process at St Andrews felt like a hassle and I wouldn’t have minded her getting it wrong so much if it wasn’t for her entitled attitude that came with the experience. I don’t think it was just me though while re-queuing to hand my form in I don’t think she had a great attitude with anyone. It was a grey haired older lady whose name began with M. Staff at Cupar are lovely though and genuinely...
Read moreI do not recommend it! Avoid - dirt everywhere and unpleasant service. I was there for the first time and will never go there again; the changing rooms were dirty, the toilets dirty, the floor in the pool dirty, the water cold, the main slide closed, and the fuse off. I was at the pool with three children, 14, 13 and 6 years old. The older ones took googles with them (the ones that cover the nose), but they were forbidden to use them, and they were given reason: 'because they will fog' ... as if other googles do not. I took the six-year-old to a deeper pool and went over the 'point for non-swimmers' by one step. Immediately, with an unpleasant tone, the lifeguard told me to turn back when I insisted the child could swim. The lifeguard told me to prove it, which my six-year-old did not want to do because he was scared of him. I asked my teenagers to stay with him in the shallow water for a moment so I could swim around the pool once because I was cold from standing in the cold water and the draft (btw the outside door had gaps, and the wind was blowing through it), I didn't even manage to get to the end of the pool when my 14-year-old daughter (she's an excellent swimmer) called me to come back because they can't stay with a six-year-old as you must be 16 to watch him and stand in the shallow water with him! The lifeguards should deal with the mess in the pool and not admonish people when we're not doing anything wrong! I will add that there were 5 to 6 tourists there who bothered my teenagers, but the lifeguards overlooked it; the tourists also jumped on their heads and bombs, which was also ok. After not even 20 minutes in the pool, I took my 6-year-old and went out to change, as there was no way I would stay in that messy pool with lifeguards so rude. When we came out to the changing area, in the middle of the floor, a surprise awaited us in the form of a worn-out sanitary pad! I should ask for a refund, especially since their prices are the same as other bigger...
Read moreVisited leisure centre yesterday and will not be back. Upon arrival we weren't told of pool restrictions for my 4yr old and on entering the pool an extremely rude poolside attendant told us that our daughter couldn't pass a certain point, limiting her to being only able to access 1/3 of the pool!!! We have visited many swimming pools and have never heard of anything as ridiculous as this!! This was then reduced even further when an inflatable assault course was added to the water!!! Had we been made aware of these restrictions on arrival we would have went else where. She was unable to practice swimming, jump in or have an enjoyable swimming experience with her cousin. In the end we had to leave the pool and head for a cold shower. On entering the toilet faculties I was nearly knocked out by the extensive smell of urine!! I had to carry my 4yr old to the toilet to ensure she didn't stand on the many puddles/wet patches on the bathroom floor. These certainly didnt look like pool water!! This experience made our family weekend visit away very un...
