UPDATE! In reply to your response to my review, you will see Google ask for three ratings: food (which I scored 5) service (which I scored 4) and atmosphere (which I scored 3) so my review was not at all negative or only “based on product” Google reviews are based on experience…. And the three star system as stated above. I complimented your food and your staff🤷🏼‍♀️ as these are both credible. I never once said I don’t like St Andrews... i left honest feedback which I am entitled to do as a paying customer? I think the owner really needs to learn how to take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism as my comments were never supposed to offend or criticise yet just express that your relocation is effecting customers? Anyway! After that mouth full I’ll ensure I don’t recommend your buissnes to others again👍

Big fan of the toasties from here! As a local, we would often take a summer trip to kingsbarns, have lunch here and take in the breathtaking views and sanctuary that kingsbarns has to offer. Food is 10/10 every time! I have no complaints here. Staff work hard to get orders out hot, fresh and fast. Since the closure of the kingsbarns branch we decided to come along for our first summer visit of the year and instead travel a little further to St Andrews. Unfortunately this wasn’t a hit for us. A lot of tourists at this spot compared to kingsbarns so trouble parking here due to campers and people double parking and getting a bench was a tricky task. It was a lot busier and crowded at this location as it’s in the town and speaks to the touristy / student clientele rather than locals seeking a quiet day at the beach. I understand your business decision here as costs are rising for many small businesses and running two shacks close together would be costly! This shack don’t serve chips/chips and cheese etc like kingsbarns did so if you liked to share a toastie and chips with your other half, be prepared as you’ll now need to purchase one each with the removal of the sides from there menu! I have some fond memories from the years visiting kingsbarns with the dog and having a lovely quiet trip to the beach topped off with a fabulous toastie from the cheesey toastie shack so as a local, very sad to see...

I stopped by today while I was down by the beach, I got the Mac and cheese toastie which was lovely and filling, couldn’t even finish the whole thing and had to take it home to have later (still tasted great later on too!)

I usually wouldn’t leave a review but I just wanted to mention I found the customer service not that great and didn’t find the staff very friendly:(

I’ve worked in customer service before so I do 100% get they could have just been having a bad day or were a bit stressed out and let that show (we’re all human!)

Firstly I asked if cash was accepted (as a lot of places are now card only) I got back a kind of snappy yes for a response which kind of made me feel silly for even asking.

Then when she asked my name for the order i missed what she said and asked if she could repeat and she shouted my name at me with a bit of an attitude.

I get a bit of anxiety when I order food so this whole experience did make me a bit uncomfortable sadly.

Really hope this doesn’t come across as a nasty review not my intention at all just wanted to give a little bit of feedback in the hopes it doesnt happen to...

Reply: Glad to see you’ve fixed your opening hours now but no need to be passive agressive. Your opening hours said 5 pm close. You’ve just corrected them to 4 pm and replied to me here pretending you don’t know what I’m talking about. Shame to see one of our favourite food places in town is run by immature people. If you were actually level-headed you would reply apologising for the error and inconvenience, saying you’ve made the correction.

Third time now that I can recall off the top of my head where we’ve gone and the place is shut, within their stated opening hours.

You clearly are capable of posting on social media regularly, so how about you take a minute to share accurate opening hours and update these regularly?

Very inconsiderate and frustrating for your customers. People have to go out of their way to get to your location (not in the town centre and nothing else nearby) so the least you can do is not have them waste their time.

Nobody knows when you’ll actually be open so people often avoid trekking out there at all - have some business sense and sort this out if you care about...

The perfect Scotland beach experience. Everybody told us when you come to St. Andrews. You must eat a toasty near the beach. We did and we don’t regret it. They are delicious and they taste about the way that they look cheesy crunchy and tons of flavor. Figure out the front counter tremendous customer service. All students from the local university. Will definitely recommend this place and come back the next time we’re here. It is very popular so there will be a line. Just be patient because it the weight is worth it. The milkshakes are delicious so are the pastries. The view is tremendous and completely worth the chilly day to eat a toasty near the beach.

We stopped by The Cheesy Toast Shack and waited around 15 minutes for our food, which was reasonable given how popular it is. The toasties were well worth the wait hot, delicious, and generously filled, making for a satisfying meal. I had the New Yorker with pastrami, mustard, and gherkins, which was packed with flavour, while my partner went for the Red Leicester with chorizo and chilli jam, which had a great balance of spice and richness. The portion sizes were good, and we both left feeling full. A great spot to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat, especially when out on a dog walk.

Finally visited after hearing all the hype for years. Service was very fast and friendly. Took less than 5 minutes for my Mac and cheese toasty to be ready. It was massive and at around £6-£7 I felt good value. It was nice although for me personally felt like there was missing something. They do provide add ons so maybe if I had that one again I’d add chorizo or something, think some spice might be just the ticket. Also keen to try the buffalo chicken one. Lots of seating nearby, either on benches or just the grass overlooking east sands. Overall good experience and would try again.
