Update April 2019: My favourite public garden in Perth and for miles around, a testament to the sucess of the the community group that maintains it, with benches galore to enjoy the heathers. We love to picnic in the sheltered spot beside the box hedges. Circular lawn in front of the gym great for games. Very pleasant walk along the Tay taking in the heather garden. From the gym get the key to the burial ground to see the 17C memorial to first Earl of Kinnoull inside the remains of the church. You can make this walk circular by starting at e.g South Inch car park walking over the railway bridge, going north through the gardens, over the Old (Smeatons) Bridge and coming back south along the pavemented west side of the Tay. The walk can be extended by looping round the North Inch (park) at the old bridge. This would be buggy friendly except for the steps on the town side of the railway bridge.

Lovely walk on the far side of the river through Perth city centre. Once you're in the park, the idea is that you don't have to cross any roads the whole length of the park. There's a sculpture route, gorgeous sculpted gardens, pagodas, seating areas and lots of information points throughout. Wheelchair friendly, besides some hills, good for children and dog walkers. You can also walk out to an island in the river. A little getaway in the centre of Perth.

Fantastic park and gardens - glorious variety of trees, shrubs and flowers. The day I went the spring sunshine was out and happy and there was lots of birdsong. Would have liked to spend more time there but had a train to catch. Congratulated some of the staff I spotted on the way out, and was very impressed and pleased to hear that the gardens are looked after entirely by volunteers. Brilliant job!!

This is a quiet part of town opposite the town centre across the river. From the town centre can walk there over the road bridge at one end or over the railway bridge to the other end. There is a sculpture park along its length, a heather area, formal garden and various paths through it. Really colourful in summer and good views of town and river.

Great variety of flowers and plants in a very well organized and maintained garden. I think that not many gardens and parks are impressive like this place. It is well thought out planting selections. Brilliant maintenance. The staff must be doing great job in maintaining it.

A great double visit opportunity with the heather gardens next door, the carefully maintained beds (thanks volunteers!), And gorgeous views of the river. Seasonal planting of bedding, roses, flowers and ornamental trees make for a reading 1+2 hour visit. No public toilets.
