We went to Tabla with our friends with a lot of expectations as we had heard about its chef and had seen some great reviews about it online, to our surprise all our expectations went in vain when we got the starters , firstly the taste was not at all good, although the food was warm but the taste was sour and it felt that they had added vinegar into it, when we got the mains the taste further deteriorated , 3 out of 5 curries had the sour taste and there was a pungent smell coming from each one of them which again felt like they had added vinegar into it, when we complained about it , they simply denied it and said that they had beet root in it which was not obvious as colour of the curry would change if it had beet root and also the colour would change as well, we just asked them To take all the mains which had a disgusting taste, we asked them to replace with lentils which was the only dish which was okay,
To our surprise instead of being sorry they had added all the mains in the bill which we returned, when we pointed out about it they deducted it again with an excuse.
After all the hassle we took to go all the way down to Perth to have food in Tabla it was a serious set back for all of us and it was one of our friends birthday so overall not at all a good Indian place to dine in.
Would request the owner to look into it and make sure they try and improve the experience for...
Read moreWow. Highly recommend! On a rainy Monday evening, exactly the rarity that one hopes to find: A superbly produced authentic Indian meal with excellent friendly service. Stunningly fresh, light, beautifully prepared (by hand, noticeable with first bite) onion chutney and mixed pickle with featherlight crisp poppadum. An accompanying glass of Sauvignon Blanc one could swear was made expressly for this starter, a magical combination. My servers were Shamir, Oliver, Lachlann: each was casually informative, friendly, and continued excellent service throughout the meal to closure. This alone makes a return worthwhile: amazing meal, plus amazing help, pretty rare everywhere in the world. As a professional chef myself, I am deeply appreciative of the effort, energy, talent, and selections. (Not your usual predictable curry house!) Tandoori chicken in creamy tomato sauce and exquisitely tender lamb with turnip greens (highly recommended by Shamir) were superb over fluffiest pilau. A gem of a find, not to miss. I plan to be a regular. Thank you for an amazing finish to...
Read moreFirst time in Scotland I have experienced such a bad experience having Indian food. Restaurant manager was contradicting the tagline of restaurant saying it is a Authentic English restaurant not providing actual authentic Indian taste. Even when I complained about food which was smelling bad as well as tasting very sour, manger was saying that chef used beetroot in preparing gravies. This was so wierd that beetroot which tastes sweet/erathy was converting gravies with sour taste. Gravies were prepared with vinegar, and manager was denying same. Even when you are complaining about food, manger never cared about providing a proper solution.
It was worst experience of having Authentic Indian food in such a restaurant whose owner/head chef had won so many awards. Kindly requesting not to ruin the quality and value of authentic Indian taste and...
