It's hard to find words to describe just how awful the food at this place is. I haven't been in for almost two years and going back reminded me why. I ordered a steak, which turned up lookin forlorn on a plate accompanied only by a baked potato that looked like it had been sat on. The steak, which was supposed to be medium-rare, achieved the remarkable combination of being both over and undercooked, burnt to a crisp on the outside and raw on the inside. To add to the pleasure, it was also so fatty and chewy it was inedible. I returned it and went for the low risk option of a grilled chicken burger as a replacement. What could they possibly do to destroy a simple chicken burger? Quite a lot as it happens. The thing that arrived at my table was a sad, dejected, sight. A breakfast roll (?) containing a dried out lump of chicken, two slices of tomato and a splash of something unidentifiable; possibly mayonnaise, possibly wallpaper paste, artistically surrounded by small offcuts of limp lettuce apparently thrown in the general direction of the plate from a distance, and accompanied by chips which were clearly a close cousin of the steak, having the same burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, character. Unfortunately, none of it tasted as good as it sounds. I forgot to mention that I had ordered a pint of Stella. It took them ten minutes to tell me they had run out of Stella, and the member of staff was completely thrown by my request for something similar, the complexity of the lager choices seemingly being beyond their comprehension. Overall, I think it's a good thing that Perth has a Wetherspoons: at least you can go to other places and, however bad they are, you can always say, "Well, it's not as bad as...
Read moreWas charged 3times on my card for our meal after returning back to my table and asked to re present my card 5 times as transaction had not gone through! We were a table of 4 and when our food arrived I had ordered a PLAIN half roast chicken with chips and found that the chicken was infused with lemon and herbs and was curtly told that all the their chicken dishes were lemon infused. I am allergic and therefore couldn't eat it and was then told by the shift leader that I "couldn't read a menu properly" after more ranting from her I was eventually offered fish & chips which I accepted. Another at our table ordered a mixed grill which arrived with unidentifiable items on the plate. These items were so burnt and on complaining it was taken back to the kitchen and returned with 3 complimentary sausages on top and offer of a free cookie which was declined. On moving the sausages out of the way it was found that the rest of "the grill" had been even more incinerated and was now just carbon. We then asked a refund and did without this meal! The shift leader at this time was extremely rude and very condescending to me especially and I had to get up again to get the refund on to my card. By this time I had been up from our table 6 times and used 5 different card machines. In the past I have dined and had drinks there and had no problems and this review is highly edited but this visit was a nightmare!!!! I would tell everyone to run in opposite direction. The empty tables around us were by this time not bring cleared after 1hour and 30 mins....
Read moreAfter a horrible night with unforeseen circumstances my significant partner and I went to this establishment to which we received a warm welcome with happy faces and impeccable service. We ordered a single hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and moments later it arrived. Seen from across the room coming straight at us with a waiter with a smile on his face as he knew he was going to bestow upon us the best tasting and highest of quality chocolate cake to which you wouldn't be able to not enjoy. Simply put if you had no feeling in your mouth and or taste buds were non existent you would still be able to taste the impeccable greatness that was this chocolate cake, after devouring this cake we couldn't simply just leave ,oh no . The waiter that served us was congratulated on his amazing efforts to make it special for my other half and I . He was very modest and continued to be the best that he can be. After this we were simply overzealous I insisted on talking to the young "Gordon Ramsay " that made this simply beautiful cake. Finally after congratulating the chef and making him aware of his talents for cakes we decided to leave. Thanks to the Wetherspoons team my horrible night got turned around into one of the...
