Beautiful and Picturesque Castle in the heart of Rothesay. The Castle itself is right in the centre of Rothesay and also there is an active moat surrounding, which adds to its pleasant lovely picturesque setting and also the Castle is very complete compared to other castles you visit in Scotland, which is a great unique selling point for it. There is plenty to see and do with The Pit Prison where you can see prisoners resided and the conditions they lived in giving you an idea of their harsh and difficult conditions they lived in. The Great Hall is another great aspect of this place where you can see it fully intact which is great and take in what it was like during the Medieval period and inside the Great Hall you can marvel at its magnificent Medieval grandeur with the wonderful coat of arms and fireplace which are simply amazing. In the Great Hall you can watch a very enthralling and informative video about the history of the Castle and how the Scots managed to obtain victory and control over the Vikings. In the Great Hall you can see some older models of the layout of the Castle giving you an idea of how it used to look. Other features in the Castle are the Chapel where you can see where people prayed and conducted religious services during the Medieval period. There are informative display panels around the place detailing the different features giving you an insight into Castle life and it's functionality. You can also enjoy beautiful and spectacular views of the moat and the surrounding area. There is a gift shop selling a lovely variety of souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this is an absolutely fantastic and spectacular place to visit, which makes for a marvellous and magnificent day out with great views of the Castle and the picturesque moat. Well worth a visit whilst...

Prices are about fair - after all you are contributing to the upkeep of the castle and preservation of a historic monument. There is a small gift shop in thr cabin at the entrance where you...

We bought burgers and homemade soup from burger stand across from Lena Zavaroni's cafe. Very good and Tasty. Fair price for an island. We enjoyed ourselves. Lovely day out. We got the ferry at wymssbay over and on way home we took the short way ferry over, it only takes 5 minutes but the long way home. One thing for sure I/we enjoyed the drive home, heading towards Helensburgh then to Glasgow, we stopped off at Arrochar for something to eat out of the chip shop before moving off again. Dropping of my Girlfriend then my Brother. Then when I got home I had a wee drink before retiring to bed. All in all a...
