So great that we ate there twice in three days!

We read a great review of The Secret Bar and Kitchen and decided to give it a try. We booked a last minute trip to stay in Swansea Harbour with our 5 and 8 year old and I did a decent amount of research to ensure we had tables booked at decent restaurants throughout our stay in the area. We were so impressed with the food and service from our Saturday evening visit, that we changed our reservations and returned on Bank Holiday Monday. The food was fresh and delicious on both of our visits and the options for the kids were simple but delicious - not a frozen after-thought like many. As a vegan it was great for me to have a few options.

Views over the water are lovely The evenings were a little chilly so we sat inside with the children. The main windows slide back, however, and the tables are positioned so most tables have a view of the skyline and water. It very much feels like a beachside location with a smarter interior.

The 'Summer of Spritz' cocktail menu was fantastic and the bar staff were super helpful in telling me the ingredients so that I can recreate the drinks I loved, at home.

Special shout out to Beth who was our server on both of our visits. She was rushed off her feet Saturday but was still incredibly attentive and observant - empty drinks refilled, empty plates taken, food questions answered quickly and always with efficiency and a smile. She was kind and sweet with the children and helpful and friendly with the adults - I'd be proud to have her work at my establishment.

We would totally recommend this to all. We just returned from a 5* trip to Antigua and the children proffered the...

Prime location, good service, okay, but expensive, food.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime, but wasn't feeling a roast. Menu options were starters, roast or burgers. Worth bearing in mind that this isn't advertised on their website. We shared three starters and some sides which were okay.

The lamb chop was flavourful, but a bit stringy and probably the most anaemic looking lamb chop I've seen. I really don't think pomegranate and ricotta accompanyment didn't add anything to the dish.£9.50

The chicken wings were, okay, nothing to write home about. The salsa was scare. £7.00

The nachos we're good, but again, I wasn't overly impressed, especially not for how much they cost. £8.00

The sides were cauliflower cheese (£4.00), which was just cheese on cauliflower, and chips which are hard to get wrong.

All in all, it was an okay meal, but significantly more expensive than I would expect for the quality of the food. It felt as though each of the dishes have been considered in order to make them as cost effective (profitable) as possible.

I'd have been a lot happier had the cost been half or two thirds of the price, but maybe I'm behind these inflationary times, or maybe we should have ordered a roast on a Sunday, or maybe you're paying for the location, which is indeed, prime!

As I was sat, proof reading this, immediately after paying the bill, a member of staff very politely asked us to vacate the table in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I won't be rushing back, but they were busy so I don't think...

We’ve never actually set foot inside The Secret Beach Bar & Kitchen — not for a drink, not for a snack, not even to peek at the menu. But we have made very good use of their beach, which I suppose is the most important part of the name anyway.

We were there for a friend’s birthday, and it just so happened to coincide with a triathlon. Nothing says “Happy Birthday!” like watching strangers in wetsuits run past you while you’re trying to eat cake. It gave the whole day a surreal kind of energy — as if the sea breeze had organised entertainment for us. Forget clowns or karaoke, we had sweaty athletes sprinting by in spandex.

The cherry on top? The flooded male toilet. Honestly, they’re really living up to the “beach” part of their name. Who needs waves outside when you’ve got them indoors too?

Did it make the birthday more meaningful? Absolutely. Every slice of cake tasted like victory, and every sip of juice felt like we had earned it after 0.0 kilometres of hard work.

So while we can’t review the bar or the kitchen, we can confirm: the beach is 10/10, great for parties, comes with free bonus triathletes if you time it right, and even the toilets want in on the...

After reading a few negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit today. From the moment we arrived, several members of staff greeted us and let us know our host would be with us shortly. Everyone was attentive, polite, and friendly. We were seated quickly, and our host was equally welcoming. Our food and drinks arrived promptly. I ordered the French toast with yoghurt, berries, and granola, while my partner had the Welsh breakfast. Mine was absolutely delicious - no complaints at all, which says a lot coming from me! My partner really enjoyed his too. Both dishes were well presented and arrived at the same time. The only slight downside for me was the portion size. I was still a bit hungry afterwards if I’m honest and ended up stopping somewhere else on the way to my next destination to fill up a little more. A slightly larger portion, maybe two slices or an optional side (more fruit.. a banana perhaps) would have made it perfect. I would recommend and will return.

2 stars for atmosphere because I did not observe any dog control policy, they'll let any yappy untrained mutt sit there and bark at their own shadow as long as they can see the owner "trying their best to stop them." One out of control dog can ruin the vibe for all of your guests. 1 star The food, the food was unsatisfactory in both quantity and quality. If I was forced to eat here again, I'd suggest the salad and fries from the sides menu because my kebab was quite embarrassing to look at and I didn't hear anything good about the burger, wings or calamari either from my friends who says they taste no better than the ones you buy in Iceland. You can't even get juice chilled, it's either over ice or room temp. You're lucky there aren't more restaurants on the beach front otherwise you'd have some real problems. The staff were amazing, Zaed/Zaid/Zayd smashed it. I didn't want to complain to him because I didn't wanna ruin his day with him having to tell the owners what I said.
