Wow! It was our first time visiting after they reopened following 2 years renovation. The place is like a modern local museum should look. Small, but so lacked with things, nicely placed and with clear infos, divided into sections. I didn't expect to find so much. Both interesting for adults and children. The staff is very friendly and will answer all your questions, they have a traffic light sistem which allow them to clean straight after a station is been used. My autistic daughter who cannot read very well, loved the headphones for listening to shorts videos. I think i will have to go back on my own too, so to have some time to read everything. Very impressed with Shakespeare's First Folio. Also the gallery upstairs with the exhibition is very nice and well displayed. It feels like a museum you would find...
Read moreNot one to grumble very offten, this place has me at a loss. I really understand that a grade 1 listed building. I understand that alterations to this type of building are near impossible to carry out, but please don't advertise a place that only has disabled access to the ground floor (which consists of the gift shop & tea room) as being disabled accessible. The museum is on the 1st & 2nd floors with a flight of approximately 15 stairs to each level. We could have gone to another place & not waisted our time or fuel. Staff greatest asset and plus point here, superb. Hope your boss reads this! Well laid out and interesting displays in the room downstairs. Something for everyone. Beautifully presented and lots of information. There are loos just by the entrance, a little gift shop selling cards etc and stairs and a lift to the upstairs gallery space.
