UPDATE Ive been again today with my wife. This is the third time since my original review. I stand by what I originally posted. Fabulous food at a reasonable price and great staff. Thanks 🙂
This is the first time I've been here and it won't be the last. From going through the door to leaving, the staff were all very attentive and very pleasant. My daughter and I found a table with the guidance of a waitress and were promptly given menus. Not long after that a waitress asked if we were ready to order, which we were. My Daughter had a toastie, side salad and chips,i had haddock, new potatoes and garden peas and we both had tea. The service was the quickest ive ever witnessed and done with a happy very pleasant waitress which added to the enjoyment of a very pleasant lunch. I have to say that my experience here at the Dales cottage was one of the best I've experienced in awhile. I know ill be re visiting here again All in all a reasonably priced happy experience. Many thanks to the staff and your excellent customer service. I may make this my favourite...
Read moreThe food here today was average at best. Reminiscent of a 1980's school dinner. Mine was pigs-in-blankets with cheese and pickle on a panini with salad and chips; and my partner had giant yorkshire pudding with turkey and roast potatoes. Everything was dry and salty. Before ours had arrived, we saw one couple walk out, leaving half their meal on their plates, and I can understand why. We couldn't finish ours, but we were starving so gave it our best, but it was still a chore. The service and standards were very basic - eg, sparkling water came in a plastic bottle, without even a slice of lime or lemon in the glass; ketchup was two sachets of that weak, off-brand, vinegary ketchup that spoils the chips instead of improves them. £30 for two one-course lunches, a cup of tea and a sparkling water, so it's not not like it's cheap either. People giving this place 5 stars and saying it's the best food they've had... sorry, folks, but you need to get out more. And I'm not a foodie or a snob...
Read moreThis pub is a brilliant, traditional pub!
There was a queue when we arrived but we only waited for around 5 minutes for a table.
The first thing I noticed was that there was no music playing. This is really good in my opinion because it means people are encouraged to socialise and/or simply appreciate each other's company. It was so nice to have a proper conversation without having to shout to be heard. It helps when other guests are also mindful and respectful of each other. :)
The food and drinks menu is fantastic, offering a variety for children and adults.
We ordered the normal turkey roast dinner, large yorkshire pudding beef and lamb roast dinners, a brownie, cake, and three-flavour ice cream.
Some pubs hold back on the meat and give out scraps, but this place gives you a proper portion. 🤤
Obviously, prices vary depending on what you get, but to give you an idea, we each paid around £15-£22 for a drink, main, and dessert.
Staff are efficient and kind. We will...
