Shirley shopping district — Attraction in Southampton

Went to Argos to buy a a storage garden box for parents I was on my own, I asked the young man on the till if he had a trolley but was told they didn't have any as no room to store them but could use Sainsbury's trolleys. I said I was picking up a garden storage box so I wouldn't get it in the trolley. I then ask the young man if he would mind helping me to my car with the box as I was only parked in the Sainsbury's carpark I was told he wasn't allowed. Not great service Argos why do you sell items when you don't have a trolly to help your customers. My parcel was just over 16kg when young girl took me to the other side of the shop to collect it I said I may not be able to carry it I may have to leave it here she then said once it's gone through the till they can't store it, it's my responsibility. I then had to struggle to my car with it. Thanks Argos won't be shopping here...

Depends what you're looking for when you go here. This is a secondary shopping centre, not the main city shopping area, so there are only local high St stores and markets. The area isn't clean, often rife with the great unwashed and littered with Jehovahs witnesses trying to save your soul. There is plentiful parking, excellent bus links across the wider city and a very pleasant mid size sainsburys. For local trips when you'd rather not venture into city centre it's fine. There is an abundance of take away choices and the great British cafe, but don't be expecting high end dining, you ain't getting it...

It's shirley, can't say much, some small shops, many charity shops , frustrated pedestrians, cars zooming , total chaos , the regular works of a standard run down area of any English city. You can find lots of free parking behind the high street in parking areas on each side of the road , high street isn't the easiest place to park. I always avoid driving down the actual high street as fearless pedestrians will just launch themselves on the road to cross , like a video game , only here it's real people. I find portswood or above bar street a better choice for...
