Victoria Park in Bideford isn't just a park; it's a vibrant, well-loved cornerstone of the community that genuinely offers something special for every visitor. From its charming historical echoes to its fantastic modern amenities, it's clear why this park consistently earns top marks. Stepping into Victoria Park, you're immediately aware of its heritage. Opened in 1912, it carries a sense of timeless elegance. The grand entrance gates, a significant historical feature, welcome you into a space where the past subtly blends with the present. It's fascinating to discover the historical artifacts dotted around, like the cannons from the Spanish Armada surrounding the bandstand, a unique & intriguing touch. Even simple elements like the carefully maintained rose beds & the commemorative oak tree add layers of historical depth, making a simple stroll feel like a journey through Bideford's past.

The children's play area at Victoria Park is nothing short of brilliant. It's clearly a high priority, with every piece of equipment looking bright, new and impeccably clean, a huge relief for parents. The variety is outstanding, catering to a wide range of ages. There are safe, engaging zones for toddlers, thrilling slides & climbing frames for older kids, and even a fantastic zip wire that's always a hit. The fenced-off sand play area is a clever addition, providing a different sensory experience. Most impressively, the inclusion of accessible equipment, like the wheelchair-friendly roundabout, truly makes it a playground for all children to enjoy.

The quality of the toilet facilities often tells you a lot about a public space & Victoria Park excels here. They are consistently clean, well-maintained. & easily accessible, which is a massive plus when you're spending a day out with family. The availability of baby changing units and accessible facilities further highlights the park's commitment to accommodating everyone comfortably.

During the warmer months, the outdoor paddling pool transforms the park into an even more exciting destination. It's a fantastic feature, providing a safe and refreshing space for children to cool off and splash around. It adds a wonderful dimension to the park's offerings, making it an ideal spot for a sunny day's adventure.

Parking at Victoria Park is remarkably straightforward. The adjacent Riverbank car park provides ample space with both short and long-stay options. While there's a charge, the convenience of being right next to the park makes it entirely worthwhile. This ease of access ensures that your visit starts smoothly, without any...

My mum and myself took my niece to Victoria park, l haven't been for years even though l'm a Bideford maid!

I was blown away, it still had the renovated little pool, my niece loved it so much and the beautifully clean sand pit with toys/diggers to play with, there are games to play on each picnic table e.g draughts, with a box of all the bits necessary to play them with. There are two places to buy an ice-cream, get a coffee or snack. There is a changing room and an accessible toilet. Dogs on leads welcome. Plenty of space for your own picnic, a wonderful free day should you wish.

The play areas have wonderful interactive equipment.

The paddling pool is open daily 10-5 and staff /very friendly helpful wardens on hand. Well done Bideford town council. 👏👏👏 Barnstaple, you have a lot to learn.

Went again today 14/8/24. 7 of us, myself, mum, sister and her 2 girls and my daughter and her boyfriend. It was glorious weather, spotlessly clean, toilets had plenty of toilet paper and hand soap. I can't believe we don't have one of these paddling pools in Barnstaple's Rock Park (we did years ago) Its such a wonderful way to spend a free day, just the parking to pay for if you take a picnic. The warden is on hand to keep an eye to things and available to phone the emergency services should the need arise. Very, very impressed. We loved...

Large park which by the river Torridge. The park has a large area for recreation. It has an outdoor paddling pool which is open from Easter. There are various activities around the park including play areas and there are games tables by the pool. The games pieces can be collected at the kiosk on a first come first served basis and are lent out free of charge. The kiosk, which is situated by the pool sells drinks and snacks. This is usually opened during busy times during the warmer months. There is a outside gym and also a bowling green which is open to non members. The Burton Art Gallery is situated on one side of the park. This has a shop, museum and also a cafe inside. There are toilets situated in the park including disabled toilets. The park has various events throughout the year, including, the circus and the fair as well as other events. Well worth a visit next time you are...

Lovely park, probably the best in the area. Has two children's play areas, one for toddlers and babies and the other for older children. There is an outdoor gym with great equipment for a full workout. A 5k jogging route has been marked out around the perimeter for those who like that sort of thing! The full size football and rugby pitches are available if there isn't a match on. There are loads of benches to perch on, plus a lovely café and art gallery along with with some beautiful landscaped flower beds and a war memorial. Massive car park next to it and the best bit of all, a Hockin's van is very often near the entrance for the best Ice cream in the world in my opinion.

Love, love, love this park!!!! Every town should have a park as lovely as this. The old playground was good but the new one is even better and fabulous for children of different ages! We really liked the fact that there were boardgame-tables and table tennis here, too. When we last visited this park was place for a fairground. The little splash area is really nice for children on hot summer days. The sand in the sandpit is the cleanest sand I've ever seen in a playground. So much to see and do, so well thought out, from the plants to the enjoyment factor for the kids. Well done!

The great thing about Victoria Park is you never know what you're going to see. Some days you can see children playing and others you can see drug addicts chilling in the corner with their Amber Jack Cider and if you're really lucky you might see a bunch of homeless people skinny dipping in the pool. Also, Prince Chuck visited which really gave everyone a semi. He had an interview with local news reporter TuckerTimes where he said that he thoroughly enjoyed jousting with the homeless man.
