The Italian Kitchen — Restaurant in Torridge District

A little gem. A warm and friendly interior beckoned us in. There are two dining spaces inside, simply decorated with rustic tables. The staff were outstanding: very friendly and welcoming, hugely knowledgeable about their menus and specials, attentive but not over-present and very efficient. The food was delicious, presently nicely and timely. We shared a board of mixed salami and prosciutto with a little salad garnish, with cheese and a small fragrant dish of honey to dip into. My husband had the special pizza of the day which reportedly had a lovely flavour and my cannelloni was delicious too. Ice-cream and a good cappucino to finish. We went into the Italian Kitchen last night for the very first time. This absolute hidden gem will now be the Robins restaurant for always. For 17 years every Friday night we have had as pizza night, and the pizza last night was head and shoulders above all others. The restaurant was gorgeous and warm, the atmosphere was wonderful with candles and flowers. It was absolutely immaculate and the staff were friendly and kind. We savoured every mouthful and in all my (almost) 50 years this was the most delicious meal I have every eaten. The Italian kitchen has been the go-to place for authentic Italian food since it opened around 8 yrs ago. I remember being served real Italian ice cream with a limoncello on our first visit which has proved to be a memorable experience! The service is perfect and the open kitchen allows the delicious smells of the freshly made pizza to waft across the restaurant - delicious! A great place to go for a social, a celebration, an intimate meal or a catchup after work. I cant fault it!...
