Nice promenade (essentially the Viking Coastal Trail). Reasonable beach albeit prone to moss accumulation and a bit rocky in places. Lifeguards present today. Rotting algae can be a bit whiffy so choose your spot carefully. Tidal beach so lots of rock pools to explore once the tide goes out. Large, enclosed paddling pool for little people to the western side of the bay. A few restaurants and cafes along the promenade for refreshments. Toilets nearby and also further along the promenade. The promenade is, like all promenades in Kent, a shared space but it's nice and wide. The areas where cycling is allowed and isn't allowed are clearly signposted but some people just blissfully ignore them and carry on until they nearly run over someone not expecting a cyclist at speed! The service was quick and the waiter Harrison was pleasant, efficient and apologetic about us having to 'pay as we go' because we were sitting on the path rather than the upper level. Weather was overcast mostly with sunny spells, my girls were in the sea for an hour, shallow and warm they had a great time. Found some crabs and shrimps in the rock pools too. Great fun afternoon.
