This is a lovely park divided into a North and a South area by a road. The North park had good parking, a cafe, a children's play area, and a basketball court. There was also a single toilet which was clean and had baby changing facilities. We enjoyed walking around and admiring the carvings on benches and the statues as well as the gorgeous autumn leaves! As a bird nerd I was also delighted to watch a Red Kite overhead.
The South Park was very pretty with a little more landscaping and points of interest including a boundary wall memorialising a psychiatric hospital, and another modern sculpture memorialising the people who had lived therein. We also enjoyed playing in the wooden plane (because we are adults in name only!). It seemed to be a lovely place to walk a dog with many dogs playing together on the grass.

A lovely way to...
Read moreLovely park! Lots to see and do (look at the map and it shows just how big this park is!). We came to Leavesden park for the playground mostly. It isn't a huge playground, but has a lot of things in it like climbing frames, swings etc. All of the children in the playground were having a lovely time.
Café is right by the playground with plenty of options for drinks, food and snacks. There is a toilet inside of the café as well as a toilet outside of the café. Plenty of seating to eat inside on a cold day.
My only gripe about the playground is that there isn't a lot of seating for the parents whilst their children are playing and running around. But that being said, the children had a lovely time, us adults had a lovely coffee and cake. It's a...
Read moreA gentle stroll on a sunny March morning. Quite quiet. Beautiful old trees, beds of shrubs awaiting spring tending, interesting sculptures and display boards sharing the history of the past site. Remaining building from the old asylum visible through the trees and fruit trees planted in memory of the orchard that stood in the grounds of the old asylum. A painful history in evidence. Alongside, lies the amazing history of the factory that built the renowned Mosquito plane that stood here. A wooden sculpture sits on the site. Why is this the only WW11 plane that has no commendation for its pilots and navigators that flew in twos on those heroic bombing raids in a wooden...
