Abbots Tandoori — Restaurant in Three Rivers

Absolutely shocked with our experience tonight at the Abbots Tandoori. Appalled in fact... We were served by a gentleman pertaining to be the owner or manager, all was fine we ordered Popadoms. When he returned we quizzed him about the Wednesday Night Banquet Deal, as although we had not expressly told him the reason we had chosen his restaurant tonight was because of the deal. I was confused by the 'Side Dish to share' and clarified, and was told that we would have to share the side dish in the deal as opposed to having one each like most other indian restaurants offer within their deal (which are also slightly lower in price). I further queried whether if I was eating alone would I get my own side? He said yes, so we both joked we would each be eating alone then. This was all fairly playful although he seemed less smiley. Food was ok, much better than than the service to be honest, it redeemed the place a little. At the end of the meal we asked for our bill... we got this, it was £74 we were gobsmacked... it appeared that we had been charged full price (not the deal). Even though we had sat and queried the deal with the very same gentleman, he had chosen to present a full bill even though we had ordered within all of his parameters to meet the requirements of the deal. It was so obviously clear that we were ordering from the deal, there is absolutely no way it could have been confused as we clarified through each step of the ordering process that we could order said items in the deal (as there seemed to be a number of very ungenerous rules involved). We asked another waiter if there was an error who called back the same gentleman who claimed he wasn't aware that we wanted to do the deal as we didn't tell him. We were both absolutely gobsmacked and appalled. He went to recalculate the bill which came to £54+tip. Needless to say we left no tip. My friend referred to him as "slippery" as we walked up the road and I think it sums him up well. Such a shame as this new management who took over just 3 years ago are not retaining the standards set by their predecessors. Dishonest money grabbing owner/manager, not customer focussed. Abbots Tandoori was phenomenal ! As I stepped in the doorway , I sensed that my experience would be remarkable . I was seated and welcomed by the establishment’s Owner , Emon Chowdhury . Me and my family ordered Mojitos’ as we heard they’re amazing but they weren’t …. Because they were greater than amazing 🤩! We then ordered a lamb dansaak and I can tell you it was authentically good . The flavours and spices had changed my tastebuds perspective on Indian food 🇮🇳. My dad said that they were The Arta Award Winners for 2024 and I could see why !

In Conclusion , This establishment is world class and recommend to others to give this restaurant a try as the service is top notch ; The Food had given me goosebumps as it was terrifically good and they even had shown us the private room for party’s 🎉 , birthdays and celebrations. Hi guys I would like to talk to you personally but couldn't find a personal review site so here it goes , tonight was fireworks night, so i understand it may of been busy, but food was disappointing , I have been coming there for years because i have never followed my goals and fled to countries that deserved to have me , but I have never had food as bad as tonight from your restaurant, I feel you let your standards drop , my lamb sagg was not great, it could of come from fray bentos tin ! my friends chicken tikka tasted like a domino bottled sauce and the coconut rice tasted like it had no coconut in it, I know he must be very upset with his life to order that peculiar rice but it made him more upset with his life than he already was, and he really needed a pick up, you guys let me down I hope you will pick up again and when I come back from my travels across the world in 4 days I will return to new improved...
