Review of Aquadrome, Rickmansworth

Aquadrome in Rickmansworth is a popular local spot for anyone wanting fresh air, scenic walks, or a relaxed outing with family and friends. The two lakes are the main attraction, surrounded by greenery and featuring clear, well-kept paths that loop around, making it easy to explore. The trails are suitable for walking, cycling, and for bringing along your dog, making it a very pet-friendly area.

One of the best things about Aquadrome is its laid-back atmosphere. Even when it’s busy, the park’s open layout means it doesn’t feel too crowded. Nature lovers and birdwatchers will appreciate the local wildlife; you’ll usually spot ducks, swans, and a variety of birds around the lakes and in the surrounding woodland areas. It’s a peaceful place to enjoy some time outdoors, whether you’re looking for a gentle walk or just a scenic spot to relax.

The park also features a small café near the entrance, which serves coffee, sandwiches, and basic snacks, along with outdoor seating options. For families, there’s a playground that’s always a hit with kids, making it a great spot for parents to relax nearby. Overall, Aquadrome is a versatile green space, perfect for a morning or afternoon outing, whether you’re visiting solo, with kids, or...

Been going here for years (maybe 20 years). Lots of walking route options including a very good children's play park. There are three lakes there. Cafe is nearly always busy and has a decent selection of food. I had the burger today and it was tasty and looked to be home made. However the drink service can feel slow as there isn't a big space for you to wait for the drinks. They cater well for intolerances such as dairy and egg (my wife has an intolerance)

Main road in car park is surfaces but the parking area is a pot holed and just crushed gravel. I would say the car park is big enough for busy periods as we have been there in all seasons and always found a space. Parking is free, but I think this will change in years to come.

The park is used for group dog walks and runners groups as well as a model sail boat club on Sunday mornings. There is also a canoe water polo section and and a sailing club. There are building a new structure building for the sailing club too

Plenty of dog bins on the main routes.

There are bird watching huts on one of the lakes.

Well worth a visit of you want somewhere to...

We visited Rickmansworth Aquadrome on a Sunday lunchtime during Tier 4 lockdown for our daily exercise. It was surprisingly busy, though people were distancing appropriately. It was, however, very difficult to find a (free) parking space despite the carpark being very large. There are proper paths around both lakes, but it was still muddy in places, which should be considered when choosing appropriate footwear! The walk was very pleasant and we enjoyed watching the ducks (including swans, Canada geese, mallards, and coots) with my baby daughter. We were there for around two hours and so stopped for a snack at the cafe. The chips with rosemary were absolutely delicious, as was the hot chocolate. Everything on the menu appeared to be vegetarian, though not necessarily vegan. Outside the cafe, we were delighted to meet an owl who was with her handler and happy to be photographed. We did not make use of them but toilets were available. There were also plenty of bins and benches. All in all, a very pleasant visit despite it being quite busy.

I love the Aquadrome at Rickmansworth. There is a large car park which is free to park in. I often come here for a walk around the waterways. It is flat and the paths are well maintained so it is an ideal walk for people with mobility issues and is ideal for anyone in a wheelchair (especially if you are pushing them.) There is a toilet block here so you can use the toilet if you get caught short while out on your walk! There is a cafe (an independent "trendy" one) so over priced coffee and teas and food. But the food is lovely. If your on a budget you will want to avoid the cafe. The town center isn't far from here so I often walk on over to the town and get my refreshments over there. There is a large children's play area a short walk from the Aquadrome which also has a small outdoor gym. Great area for watching wildlife, there is sailing, water skiing and fishing going on here too. But you have to be members of clubs to join in. You can't just turn up and take part. But don't quote me on that I could be wrong. Enjoy
