The place is very cozy and as I can observed the place is very historical. I been greeted by as I enter. I asked if I can sit anywhere. The man behind the bar politely replied if I have a booking, I said no and he told me to find anywhere I can sit, he also mentioned that there's a garden table outside. I asked if I can take a menu with me then I choose to sit on a corner at the restaurant side where a long table was set up but I only needed for one in the corner by the window table, as I look back a waiter was already behind me and offered to moved the long table and split it. I sat and started to choose from the menu. Then a waiter approached to asked my drink order. I didn't have the drink menu with me when I sat down, the waiter started to walk to the bar and tried to get it for me but I already know what I'd like to order. Gin and Tonic served on a proper balloon glass complete with a garnish of dried berries. As I look at their menu, I could say that it's been created carefully and really have a good selections, it is unique dishes specially the mac and cheese and the salad section. I choose the superflat bread salad that made of humus, rocket salad, roasted pepper, courgette, confit tomato, leeks, kale, brown rice, quinoa, broad beans, red onion, balsamic glaze and feta cheese.Sound deliciously healthy right? I added up the smoked salmon and crushed avocado to make it even more healthier. I requested to put the flat bread on the side. This salad is out of this world; all the texture and taste of each ingredients is playing inside my mouth. I truelly enjoyed it. I never had anything closer to the goodness of this kind of salad. I was really full but then I saw a creme brulle cheese cake so I got curious and asked the young waitress about the texture of it because it sound like infused but I was wondering if it's too soft texture of creme brulle or the texture of cheese cake. She then went and asked the kitchen and went back with an answer and said its more of a cheese cake soft texture rather than the brulle but because I love cheesecake I ordered it anyway eventhough I am too full. When it arrived the size is perfect and my palate has been fooled because I can taste it like a creme brulle but then I could taste the texture of a cheesecake. Now I get it; It's a cheese cake that has a taste of creme brulle. Amazing I had the taste of two in one. I would recommend the place, the food and the ambience. The restaurant got slowly busy and there's a large group as well that dine in. Shame that I did not have the chance to try and relax outside their garden table. It would be good but I ran out of time. I went there for an early dinner and to meet somebody who owns a dog but couldn't make it. Yes! the place is pet friendly perhaps by the beer garden, well maybe next time. The service is excellent. Tried to asked if they could charged my phone before I eat my dinner ( worried that it might go flat and I won't be able to call an uber) and got it back when I finished my dinner. Well I could not even mentioned the name of the young lady who served me, she have an excellent customer skills and great hospitality. They truly do what they said... "They will...

I have been here now 3 times but our last visit wasn’t acceptable. We ordered 3 desserts which contained whipped cream. After tasting the desserts, all three of us knew that the cream was off. We passed around the dishes to others on the table and again all 6 said that the cream wasn’t right - one even sotted something green in the cream in the brownie! It was a hot day, 31*C and the cream was served warm and had that funny smell and taste. The staff were happy to back the food and were friendly, even replacing our desserts with different ones. The manager came back and said that the cream was fine to taste and mentioned that the cream was whipped yesterday. Being a busy and very hot day, what most likely happened was the cream was kept out so it was ready to be served as the orders continued to arrive. Practically this would make sense to save the Chefs having to constantly going back and forth from the fridge to use the cream but hygienically this a no! Over the period of 2 days the cream would have begun to spoil as it contains dairy which should have not have been left out for such long periods in the hot heat. What I would recommend for next time in hot spells is to take small batches in small spells rather than the whole box of whipped cream out of the fridge for...

Over the past year we’ve been here several times for Sunday lunches while out rambling in the area. The pub has a lovely cosy interior and a nice garden with plenty of shade, so you can always find a suitable spot regardless of the season. The only downside to the outdoor area is the inconsiderate patrons who insist on smoking around the children playing and people eating. Staff are always welcoming and friendly, and while service can be a little on the slow side, that’s generally because they tend to be a bit busy. The food is always good, I always have the vegetarian but roast and my partner always has the beef; accompanying sides are always well done and seasoned properly, as opposed to simply being presented with lifeless boiled wares, as some pubs do. The potatoes, in particular, are very good, with a touch of garlic and herbs, and the Yorkshire puddings are excellent. Puddings are good too, and they have a reasonably decent wine selection. I’m sure we’ll continue to pop in here from time to time when we are in the area!
