This is a wonderful park for kids of all ages we arrived just after 11am and left just after 4pm the park area with the swings and slides etc was for all ages all gated and safe seating area inside and lovely grass area shaded by the tree and great picnic area. Sadly there are a lot of geese wandering around the park area they looked people friendly but they poop everywhere and spending time in the splash park around 3 pm there was a lot of poop around this area where an awful lot of children are playing. When asked if we could contact some one I was told the council clean in the morning. I feel in the summer months this needs to be addressed more than early morning. This for me on a very hot day was disappointing and unsafe for little children to play around. Maybe this area should be gated as the park was, to keep this area clean and germ/ dirt free for our children. Toilets were clean and mr whippy was near the entrance. The town (10 min walk ) had lots of cafe eateries. A pleasant day and the kids loved it. Just the splash park area needs to be made safer I feel. A dog...

What a great place to hang out in the summer! Some people swim in the river, some go to the outdoor pool, and young kids splash in fountains. Boats often moor there and opposite, and it's nice watching them come and go. There's also an ice cream shop. The play park is huge, and there's some historic ruins of an abbey behind. It's got plenty for everyone. Waitrose is really close for picnic supplies, so there's no reason not to plan a whole day there just chilling on the grass. There's also a nice path running up to the lock and the Weir which you can walk over. A haven for young families, boaters (for the free mooring) and...

I’ve been visiting the Abbey Meadows since I was born and they’ve made a lot of changes! I wasn’t really happy when they first moved the playground-park, however my son really enjoys where the playground is now and it’s really beautiful scenery around there! The walk down the river up to the weirs is lovely, and there are some nice fishing spots along there, also. In the summer when the water fountains are active it can get a bit too busy, but this is testament to how gorgeous the surroundings are and how fun the sprinkler fountains are for the kids - and any adult willing to get wet or needing a cool-off on our...

Good park with lots of open space, the river, a playground (when social distancing ends) a swimming pool and splash features (also for post SD). There is parking but not huge amounts. The Meadows has seen a lot of change over the years and is now quite smart... Very different from the overgrown Abbey ruins that I remember running around in. Easy walking distance from the town center and also from the nearby supermarket and leisure centre.

Great place to visit especially with children. I visited with 2yr, 3yr, 8yr, 10yr and there was lots to do for all of them. On nice days the splash park next door is perfect. Ice cream man has responsibly priced ice cream and adjusts for each child's tastes. Beautiful location, no litter, toilets for all, very scenic. Parking avaliable which is Pay and Display. Free for disabled blue badge holders.
