We arrived after an early Sunday morning walk and selected a breakfast and tea from the menu for £14.20. The tea arrived in a large pot which was sufficient to quench our thirst.
Considering that you eat with your eyes we looked forward to a hearty breakfast and were disappointed with the way it was presented everything piled up on the plates with two poached eggs perched on top that were so hard they could be used as golf balls. Working our way through the mountain of food we came across the toast which was burnt. We returned the eggs as they are inedible and a long time later the waitress asked if we required replacements bearing in mind the breakfast was already half eaten. We confirmed that replacements were required when they appeared as hard as the original ones. A guy came over and pointed out that the eggs were complimentary but at the time of ordering the girl offered fried or poached eggs which lead us to believe they were part of the breakfast. As a suggestion try putting the toast in a rack or another plate and think of presentation.
We think this cafe is a work in progress and as such has much to learn.
We will not be back for breakfast but may try the cakes sometime in the future.

Read moreWe had ordered afternoon tea for Mother’s Day a week in advance. They had confirmed our order and delivery slot and we were very excited. The time slot for our deliver had been and gone, so I sent a chase up email to check. Sadly they responded that they had run out of capacity and so could not deliver. This was hugely disappointing, especially as they had a weeks notice to ensure sufficient stock for those with pre-arranged orders. It was even more disappointing that they had not informed us as soon as they realised that had run out of stock, especially as I had provided my phone number for them to update us in the event of any issues arriving and expressed that we would be happy to collect. Had I not have sent a chase up email, I’m sure we would have been left waiting all day. Thanks to their quick response, however, we were able to go to the shops and get food for our own...

I asked for a tomato and olive turnover, it looked like a pre-bought frozen pastry that had been left in the oven too long, it was served to me burnt-black in a bed of plain shredded lettuce and a few slices of tomato and cucumber. Once I broke through the hard black pastry i was left with a kind of dried up shrivelled essence of olives in the middle. The lettuce was the bulkiest part of this meal.
I'm not a chef but I would be embarrassed to serve this food to anyone let alone a paying customer. I saw this mess in a box when i got home, so pretty disappointed and hungry this lunch time, I'm new to the area and I am not going back there on my lunch break again. Coffee was pretty below average so didn't even...
