I can't recommend Snozone Castleford highly enough. Before starting lessons there, I had never set foot on a snowboard. Now, after plenty of practice, I’ve just come back from an incredible trip to Alpe d’Huez, confidently riding the mountain. Learning a new sport is always a challenge, but being closer to 50 than 40, I wasn’t sure how I would take to snowboarding. From the very first lesson, the team at Snozone made it an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Their structured approach and expert coaching gave me the perfect foundation, so when I got to the Alps, I already had the skills to ride properly and enjoy myself. A massive big up to Aaron, my first instructor, who got me started on the all-day beginner course. His patience and encouragement made a massive difference in those early stages. From there, I moved on to a few three-hour advanced lessons with Ben and Harley, who pushed me at just the right pace while making sure everything was safe and controlled. Their coaching fine-tuned my technique and gave me the confidence to tackle more challenging terrain. Snozone is the perfect place for beginners, especially if you’re unsure about giving snowboarding a go. The instructors are fantastic, the setup allows you to progress at your own speed, and they really help build your confidence. Whether you're brand new to the sport or looking to improve before heading to the mountains, this is the best place to learn. If you’re thinking about trying snowboarding, just go for it. You won’t regret it.

I can not praise the team enough, Sammy, Harley and Sam, were amazing with my autistic son. We buy him experiences, as a young man he gets depressed, bored, so to show him that autism & Epilepsy are not barriers to finding excitement, fun and happiness. He has things he cannot do, put a helmet on his bare head, so the team found a new helmet, we had purchased new thick socks, so he coped with the boots. He was advised by two sources to take thick ski jacket, but his thermostat does not work, after his first lesson he was over heating, I strongly recommend layers, all with long sleeves so the skin is covered and gloves a must. ( Trespass shop opposite, so in a break we purchased a thin fleece). My son had two lessons one for snowboarding, he found this easier than skiing as the legs do the same thing and the boots softer. Skiing he could get his left leg to work and go out, but his right leg did not want to do the mirror image at the same time!! Viewing from the cafe/childrens soft play area free to enter ( the latter above the nursery slope) We are going back to Castleford Snozone again and to spend a day in the 'Escape' arena, it is an amazing place. Note if going, avoid the A1 North (not sure about Southbound side) in 2025, as they are working on a bridge between the Pontefract and M62 on A1, and have been I am told for over a year!! queues horrendous. Head across country to Pontefract, google maps got us there on the alternative routes!!

Remember to take change for the lockers! The venue has gone "cashless" so they can't do change, but you still need a £1 coin for the lockers in the changing rooms. The lockers in the main area don't need coins, but you have to supply your own lock. There are also barriers at the entrance for some reason so remember to take your slope pass if you go back out to get change. As for the slope, it's ok. It needs some maintenance and a makeover imo. The padding on the slope has been switched from red to black so it's all very greyscale and dull now. The walls are just white or metal with nothing else. Some of the safety nets are red, but the only other colour on the slope is the rust on the roof beams. Parts of the roof are even held together with duck tape. There is a sign about this snozone trying to get this addressed and not having much luck from the building manager, but it's not a great look. Even the music seems like it hasn't changed in the last 20 years. It wouldn't be too difficult to give it some character. A wooden lodge facade around the doors maybe, a painting or a picture of a mountain scene with pine trees, blue sky, etc. Maybe some fake pine trees. Exploring the mountains and see the views is a part of snowsports. It's only a small slope, but it can still have a bit of a mountain feel to it.

Booked a birthday party for my daughter on the 3/11/2024. Whilst booking I was asked to confirm numbers for the party, upon on confirming numbers I was advised it's a good idea to pay for extra places, as once all confirmed no amendments can be made afterwards if extra people would like to come, but I would receive a refund if the extra spaces weren't filled up.

A few days prior to the party I received a courtesy phone call explaining the process of the day etc, whilst on the phone I explained the extra spaces weren't filled & would like the money refunded which they said no problem & would take 5-7 working days for the money to be refunded.

After a month I realised I hadn't received the refund so I made a phone call & was advised that the refund had just been added to my account for any future bookings I make. I explained that I wanted the money back in bank account & not adding to my snozone account as chances are I wouldn't be back, as this was the first time I had ever been. I was told this wasn't an issue & would be passed over to the financial team to process the refund. I'm still yet to receive my refund to this day & have since had to make another phone call chasing for my refund.

Also prior to the party starting we was informed that as the parents of the party both had to on the slopes with the kids, even though they had 2 designated instructors just for the kids attending the party. Neither me or partner were dressed appropriately, to deal with the coldness, to go on the slopes with the children & we're informed that it should have been mentioned we had to go on the slopes with them on the courtesy call we received, but it wasn't. In the end they agreed that one parent could just go on the slopes & my partner had to borrow a coat from another parent, who's child was attending the party.

After the kids had done the sledging, we went back to the private room & they served the kids food out. The kids sat down ate a bit of food & started playing a bit afterwards, as soon as the kids left the table though all the food that was left (which was probably just less than half) was taken away. Any one that has kids, especially when it's a party surrounded by friends should know they aren't going to just sit & eat in 1 sitting, they will play for abit then go back & eat abit more & so on. I did see them clearing up, but assumed they was just taking empty plates away, so didn't say anything & didn't really pay much more attention to it going forward, until it was all gone.

Really bad experience & wouldn't advise anyone to book a party, based on my experience, but could of just been a one off? Kids however did have fun & enjoyed the sledging etc hence the 2 stars...
