Meat is one of those rare spots that gets a lot of things right in a way that makes you keep coming back, even when there's the occasional hiccup. It's not perfect—but it's damn good, and when it hits, it really hits.
Let’s start with what matters most: the food. The quality here is consistent and genuinely impressive for the price point. Everything I’ve tried has been flavourful, well-cooked, and clearly put together with care. There’s a wide variety on the menu, and it's not just filler—they actually do each item well. The kebabs, in particular, are standout. The donner is easily one of the best I’ve had locally—tender, well-spiced, not greasy or sloppy, and portioned just right. There’s something about how they balance flavour and texture that makes it seriously satisfying. You don’t get that limp, overly salty meat you find at most places. This actually tastes fresh. Fries and other sides are also delicious and fresh.
The boxes are where the real value comes in. If you're hungry (like, really hungry), you’re not going to walk away disappointed. They don’t skimp on the fillings, especially if you go for the extra meat option—which I absolutely recommend. Without it, the boxes are still solid, but you’ll definitely notice the difference. With it? You’re getting a beast of a meal that actually feels worth the money. And that's something I really appreciate—too many takeaway places overcharge and under-deliver. Meat gets the balance right.
The pricing overall is fair, though some items offer better value than others. It’s not bargain-basement cheap, but you’re paying for proper quality and good-sized portions, not scraps. You feel like you’ve spent your money on an actual meal, not just something to fill the gap. That alone makes it stand out.
There’s a decent drinks selection to go along with everything too—nothing mind-blowing, but more than just the usual sad bottle of water or a warm can of Coke. Options matter, and they’ve clearly put thought into the full experience rather than just chucking a few items together and hoping for the best.
Now, onto the one consistent downside I’ve had—and it’s frustrating because it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve only ever ordered from Meat for delivery and takeaway via Deliveroo, and while the food quality when it arrives is always top-notch, I’ve had my order cancelled on three separate occasions. It’s not even a slow decline or poor handling—it’s worse. The order gets accepted, everything looks fine, then bam—ten minutes later, cancelled with no explanation. Whether it’s a timing issue, staff shortages, or something else, I don’t know. But having your dinner plans abruptly fall apart is not a good customer experience. It’s especially irritating when you’ve been looking forward to it all day and then end up scrambling to find somewhere else last-minute. If they’re too busy or closing soon, just don’t accept the order in the first place.
I can’t speak to the dine-in experience because I haven’t sat inside, but every time I walk past, the place looks clean, tidy, and well-managed. No clutter, no chaos—just a sharp-looking, well-kept interior that gives the impression that the kitchen behind it is run with the same care. If the service inside matches the food quality, I imagine it’d be a great place to sit in and enjoy a proper meal instead of relying on delivery roulette.
All in all, Meat deserves a solid 4 stars. The food is reliably delicious, the portions are satisfying, and the value is definitely there—especially if you go for the extras. The only thing holding it back is the delivery inconsistency, which is a shame because the food itself is easily worth five stars on its own. If they can sort that out—or just give clearer boundaries for when delivery is available—it’d easily be one of the best spots around for a proper, filling,...
Read moreIf I could give more than 5 stars, I would …. Food tasted great, was cooked well and the ingredients were clearly fresh and good quality. I got the rice bowl with chicken shawarma and sweet lamb and feta - was very clean and healthy but definitely felt like a naughty treat. Staff were really friendly and helped me decide what to get because the whole menu looks delicious. Also portion size was great, especially given the price - really good value for money. Ended up scoffing it in the car but my mouth has been watering since. Just wish they had another branch closer, as I’m going to have to travel to get some more soon ! Also there was no incentive for this review - it was just that good I had to write one. Also the picture doesn’t do it justice - it was after a good few bites. Looked a lot better before
P.S - would definitely recommend the sweet potato, whipped feta, chicken shawarma and sweet lamb (which was freshly cooked in...

I can’t remember the last time I saw a menu with so much choice and yet very reasonable prices. So much so, we presumed the food would be fairly mediocre at best.. how wrong we were.
The food was amazing, all freshly cooked and very good quality. We fed 4 people good quality food for £39! The flavours were great, everything was presented well, honestly for the price, I was blown away.
The staff that served us were very friendly, answered any questions we had and check we were satisfied with our meal. We felt valued to be there.
We’d had a great day at xscape and for us, Me@t finished it off perfectly....
