I visited Bangor Pier today with my Mum and brother. We've lived in North Wales for about 30 years and come here often to enjoy peaceful walks and beautiful views. It's a beautiful structure with panoramic views taking in mountains and sea, and never gets too busy so it's a good place to come for a quiet walk away from the more hectic seaside resorts. There are many lovely kiosks housing independent businesses, and the cafe in the pavilion at the far end of the pier is always buzzing. Today's visit was extra special thanks to the heritage 'Penny Arcade' which has recently opened in one of the kiosks. It features about ten gorgeously restored antique 'slot machines' which are operated by old coins supplied by the owner, who also hand-painted the ornate signs and decorative paneling adorning the arcade. We spent about half an hour chatting with the owner and playing on the machines while 60s hits played in the background. It was an absolutely magical experience, and is a superb and unique addition to Bangor Pier. Well done to the Friends of Bangor Pier whose volunteering efforts and organisation of events and activities all year round have brought the...

We went to Bangor, North Wales on 18th June and stayed in Eryl Mor Hotel. It was Very close to Garth Pier. After checking in we straight away went to Garth Pier . When we reached over there the entry fee was 50p/ adult and 20p/ child . After paying it we started walking on the pier. Wow. The view was amazing. This pier is built on sea. At that time the climate was amazing. We took few photos over there. When we reached at the end, it had a nice and small restaurant. Once you go over there better to grab a coffee and cone outside and enjoy looking at the boats and small ships going around. It's absolutely amazing. Unfortunately toilet facility was not available at that time and we were told that it would be available next week. There are plenty of sitting space available. Plan for evening walk over there and you will be really pleased. Please note that the Pier closes at 8 pm. But to be honest after 6pm because of low tide sea water completely dries out so better to go over there before 5 pm. When we woke up in the morning and opened our windows we could capture stunning sunrise scene. We had an amazing...

Bangor Pier continues to be one of my favourite piers, and is one of the best places to go around the Menai Straits. We went in the morning, around 9:00, and we were the only ones there! The lack of other people made the experience very peaceful, and allowed me to appreciate the pier itself and the surroundings more than I have ever done in any previous visit. One of the two shelters on the pier head has been completely repaired , and now looks pristine. The other shelter has not been repaired yet, so looks very scruffy when viewed closely. Hopefully this will be repaired soon. Another significant feature is the complete lack of amusements, found on many piers. For many people, myself included, this is fantastic news. The owners of the pier clearly understand that noisy, flashy arcades and fun-rides do not appeal to everyone, and refuse to let them spoil the pier. If you want a quiet, traditional, peaceful promenading experience, this is the...

Entrance to the pier wasn’t expensive. I believe it cost 50p for an adult and children were free. We enjoyed our walk down the pier and had good views up and down the Menai Straights. It was extremely windy that day so halfway down we stopped at a small hut for a cheese and onion toastie and a drink. The people that were working there were lovely- really friendly and helpful, and the food was great. There were other huts with gifts and art but were closed when we were there. At the very end of the pier is a larger cafe that appeared to have a bigger menu and spaces to sit inside. However we still had food and drinks from the other place so did not go in. Perhaps another time… It’s not a pier like in some big towns with loads to do but still makes for a lovely walk and some fresh air while watching the sea. If you need nothing more then I’d definitely recommend a wander.

Ā£1.50 to park and 50p per adult to walk on the pier. Pay for both at the kiosk that guards the entry to the pier. It’s a long pier, stretching from the top of Bangor and mainland Wales until it comes tantalisingly close to Anglesey. Along the pier there are small kiosk shops selling local crafts and other items. At the end of the pier is a cafĆ© that boasts of being open 365 days of the year. I can only admire the tenacity of the people who run it, and also the people who turn up at times like Christmas or New Year’s Day and traipse all the way to the end of the pier for their caffeine fix. There are good views from the pier, especially looking across towards Llandudno. In the opposite direction, you can see one of the bridges crossing the Menai Straits.
