in response to Mr Chadderton and after my walk through the park today, I agree but .. The huge dedication by those people who volunteer to care for this Edwardian park is seen in abundance as you walk through. They manage this volunteering via a "friends of " scheme as wirral council have relinquished ability. Park stats say that 60 plus % of visitors are from outside of west kirby, welcome ! and that they come for the excellent playground and to feed ducks on the lake. These volunteers have maintained the park to high standards despite the lack of money available to them. The current (2017) leader of the council lives next to the park as do I, he walks his dog through the park, he must see the hoards of people feeding the ducks, geese, moor hens mostly with white bread (despite the too polite notices, that white (in particular) bread is harmful to birds). The council should and could provide "top up" money to all "friends of" parks that have lakes, to dredge a lake is prohibitively expensive and to shoot the uneducated (assumed, due to polite but visible notices) people who feed white bread to the birds at the same time as polluting the lake, is against the law. The lake for the sake of the wildlife should be dredged as regularly as it needs as opposed to when it can be afforded. Congratulations on an excellent job...
Read moreVisited yesterday while in West Kirby. A nice 'out of the way' Park that is a nice distraction from everyday hustle bustle that is going on around it. Nice wide paths and woodland when you enter from the Westbourne Road entrance. Lovely lake with ducks & geese with benches to sit down and enjoy. There is a large play area with plenty for the kids to play on. There is a arched bridge which crosses you over the Wirral Way and then the park seems to become a bit neglected and unkept. There are tennis courts to the left and an expanse of park area with trees. The flower beds need refreshing and then it would look fabulous. A second bowling green is an added little treat. Plenty of wildlife when you cross through to the little woodland area. Birds and squirrels in abundance. A nice enough park but jyst feels a bit unloved. Still worth a visit if you are round and about that side...

A Picturesque Haven in West Kirby
During my recent visit to Ashton Park, I was reminded once again of why this place is such a cherished haven in West Kirby. The tranquil ambiance, gently cocooned away from the urban rush, provides a perfect respite for locals and visitors alike. Whether it's strolling along the meticulously maintained paths or simply sitting on a bench to enjoy the picturesque view of the pond, where ducks and pigeons seem to have formed their own little community, the serenity here is truly heartwarming.
The diversity of plant and animal life gives the park a rich spectrum of color in every season, and the weeping willows by the water are a breathtaking sight that beckons you to stay awhile. It’s not just the beauty of nature that makes this park stand out, but also the warm encounters with other park-goers that create an atmosphere of community and sharing.
The memories I collect at Ashton Park are consistently filled with moments of peace and joy. This is a place to visit and cherish with friends and family, a sanctuary capable of muting the noise of everyday life and reminding us of the simple pleasure of relaxing and absorbing the beauty around us.
