Aubergine Café — Restaurant in Wirral

We hadn't been to West Kirby in years and stopped here on a detour from a long weekend in Liverpool. It was that funny period in February that was like Spring had arrived and it felt like a June day. We decided to have a walk and a break before starting the long journey back home.

Looking for somewhere to chill out and have something to eat, we found the Aubergine Café by sheer chance and popped in, finding it attractive and airy in the main high-ceilinged room.

Service was good here and the food and drinks we ordered came with promptness and attention to detail. Really nice young woman serving and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We relaxed and enjoyed the well presented food which was tasty and interesting.

There's obviously plenty of competition and the Aubergine Café obviously is setting out to do a really good job. Nice loos too!

Visited Aubergine on Saturday 29 September and was bitterly disappointed with the service. We waited 45 minutes and had not received our meal. When we asked the service staff when we would receive our meals they were apologetic saying it happens sometimes. We were offered a complimentary drink and waited a further 15 minutes. We were with another couple who had received and eaten their meal. Other customers who arrived after us also received their meals before we did, all commenting on how long we had waited. I believe they had lost our order and wish they had admitted it. Honesty is always the best policy. Such a shame that this was not the lunch we had planned with...

Im not one to conlmplain but, sadly had a very poor trip there today, which is a shame as last time the food was lovely but clearly the staff cant handle a busy weekend ... the chips were like they had been dropped in a fryer several times, pancakes also like they had been dropped in a fryer to reheat and pancakes and bacon had pancakes with raspberries in instead of the raspberries and white choc pancakes we ordered. (Good job we had no allergies). Also understand it was busy but pancakes and chips took 45 mins ... Things had also been over charged on the bill. Got to admit i wont bother going back now after that as there wasnt even a goodbye on...
