Went today - love Wylde in Heswall - so had high expectations. The coffee was good as always, unfortunately both the gluten free cakes were dry, crumbled when trying to eat them. The decor was disappointing - pictures hung on screws, lampshades dirty, the floor still had sticky residue on that had collected dirt, footprints that hadn’t been cleaned. Two staff were trying a cake / both didn’t wash their hands afterwards nor use hand Sanitizer. Tables where not being cleaned properly - half sprayed and sort of wiped. The other staff kept playing with their masks - no hand sanitising after they had been near their face. No covid track and trace either. Menus where not sanitized I between customers. As you looked into their kitchen area - a cupboard overflowing with bags could be seen, and the white cupboard in the cafe area was dirty and unsightly. Visited yesterday with my sister in law for a cuppa and a bit of lunch. I've been past often but it was my first time going in. Absolutely gorgeous place, friendly atmosphere and lovely small menu. We noted that sometimes, menus can be meat heavy with just one or two veg/vegan options, but this menu seems the other way round and made a refreshing change. Our request to share a lunch was accomodated with ease. We enjoyed avocado on gluten free toast with chilli oil and it was absolutely delicious. Lateral by WYLDE in West Kirby is a delightful independent coffee shop that offers a great selection of coffee and pastries. I particularly enjoyed their almond croissant, which was perfectly flaky and had just the right amount of sweetness. The flat white with latte art was also exceptional and had a nice creamy texture. The ambiance of the coffee shop is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot to relax and catch up with friends or work on a project.
