Beautiful buildings and surroundings. Wonderful view from the top of the tower of the dry docks, Cammel Laird, Tranmere docks on one side; Birkenhead town on the other and stunning vista of the entire Liverpool waterfront. I could have stayed up that tower all day. Free entry to the site. Full of history. Edward Longshanks stayed here. Read moreA great place to visit and easily reached if travelling by car train or ferry.Friendly helpful staff on hand who are very knowledgeable. Going to the top of the tower is a must as the view is amazing. More good news is that it is free of charge to visit. Read moreThe oldest building in Merseyside. There is a small museum which tells the history of the priory and how the monks lived. Children can dress up and do brass rubbing. The views from the tower are extraordinary both over the river to Liverpool and right across Wirral. The photo above with this review was taken there. Great views of the ships in the maintenance bays at Cammell Laird too. Be warned its quite a climb to the top. A nice way to spend a couple of hours all for free. It's only open on certain days so...
