From a 'Playground User Safety' perspective, the Council has a duty-of-care to ask the following question in their design considerations for the new playground. 'What is 'Foreseeable/Predictable' in how the new playground area could be used?' The open plan layout means that whilst accessibility is maximised, it also means that bikes and scooters, including e-bikes and e-scooters which can travel at significant speed, can also access the play area. If a small child is hit by a cyclist who is darting in and out of the playground items, was this behaviour foreseeable? I live close to the playground and I have observed exactly this behaviour since the new park opened. (I have also incidentally seen children attempting to climb to the top of the 7-m slide on the outside which will result in injury at some point.). I do not therefore believe that the new playground is safe for small children. My 7 year old son was involved in a dangerous collision with a mountain bike cyclist who was riding at speed around the new playground items. It has resulted in a Friday-night visit to A&E and x-rays that show that my son has a broken collar bone. All my son was doing was coming down the slide and the cyclist impacted him at the point of descent. This incident was entirely 'Foreseeable' given the open-plan design of the new playground and could have been avoided if the play area had been fenced off. I would therefore urge you to report these types of situations to the local council so that they can take a view as to what additional measures can be implemented to stop another dangerous collision from occurring and impacting upon another child and in so doing, keeping all our...

Obviously there's the leisure centre on the one side - but cross to the centre of town side of the part via the nice little pond/mini-lqke and you'll find an awesome play area (much better than the little one next to the leisur centre - which is looking a bit sad now). Great for kids. Lots to do. Small kids and big kids catered for with things to climb and jump on and slide on etc etc. Possibly one of the best parks in the area for those with small to medium sized kids.
Obviously also a nice wide open space for dog...
