Came to try the 12-3 lunch menu on the weekend and they simply decided not to open on that day because they were 'too busy' the day before. Ridiculous.
There were a few of us stood outside when they were due to open, and there was no sign whatsoever to indicate they had decided not to open. There was even a clock still up saying they were opening at 12. We waited around, our day off based around having lunch here, then someone finally notices there's people waiitng and tells us they wont be open until 6 because the restaurant failed to handle a high amount of custom.
Fair enough, maybe they just dont have enough staff and put way too many tables out, but couldnt they simply seat less people on the weekend instead of just turning perfectly good custom away? Absolutely stupid buisness decision. Couldn't even be bothered to pull a page from a notebook and make a sign to stick in the window so people dont waste their time.
Wont be planning on returning here just incase they suddenly decide it will be too much work to open that day and we waste another journey.
Can imagine their lack of professionalism extends to their food as well as their service.
RESPONSE TO THEIR REPLY - So you could have just put up a sign saying you were fully booked but instead you chose to just tell everyone you decided to open at 6 that day? Rubbish. You're covering yourselves to make you look less...
Read moreHi, I’m a foodie, and so are my wife and young son - we all truly live up to the name. For the past couple of years, we've been hearing about an Indian restaurant in the UK called ‘Adda Hut,’ known for serving authentic Kolkata-style Bengali cuisine. Yesterday, my family and I finally had the chance to try their food, and I have to say, we were quite satisfied.
We would like to start with Kolkata-style mutton biryani. The rice was light, flavorful, and moist, just as it should be. The biryani came with two pieces of mutton, one large potato, and an egg. The potato was well-cooked and flavorful, and the mutton was tender and tasty. Overall, we had a great experience.
If I were to rate the biryani from a well-known restaurant in Kolkata a 10 out of 10, I’d give the biryani at Adda Hut an 8.5 out of 10, which is impressive for a place so far from Kolkata. We also tried their Luchi, Kashmiri Alur Dom, Kolkata-style fish fry, and Mishti Doi. Overall, we had a really great time, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who shares our...
Read moreHad the Sunday buffet with family and they totally exceeded all our expectations. Being a buffet, we tried everything that was on the menu and every item was prepared exactly how it should have been . The Fish Amritsari had the same authenticity and taste you would get in India and so did the Papdi Chaat. The mains didn't disappoint either , especially the saag paneer which again was very well prepared with authentic Indian taste. You wouldn't find your run of the mill food items in their menu that the other "Indian" restaurants serve. And this is what makes them truly authentic and unique. Their standard menu is Calcutta street food which is food from the East of India. Considering our buffet today was all North Indian food and they totally hit the ball out of the park with that, we are really looking forward to try the standard menu now some day. Just one comment on the ambience , it would be nice to liven up the atmosphere of the place with some music perhaps Bengali music, which otherwise felt a bit dull not sure if because of a...
