I just found a jewel in Yeovil town centre!!! Tucked away on an unassuming street, just off the main shopping high street, a glimmering shining beam of hope in the culinary darkness.
I read other sparkling reviews so thought it time to give it a try. Now lunchtime is tricky time for a Thai meal being more suited to a dinner time event, but being a single diner lunchtime is less intimidating. I have to say the outside is somewhat drab and deceiving as inside is quite lovely. It didn’t seem terribly big but there may have been another level that I didn’t see. It was reasonably busy for a sat lunchtime.
I was seated quickly to a clean table (I hate sticky tables, note to other local eateries, puts me right off no matter how good the food). The waitress was great alerting me that food might take a while to get to me, which was thoughtful, but I was in no hurry.
I ordered from the lunch menu of starter and main at £12ish. I had chicken satay and pad gra paow which came with rice, again the helpful waitress was kind enough to point out was reasonably spicy (I love spice). Both dishes were delicious and fresh. My only criticism would be and this is more my personal taste, the chicken satay is thigh meat which I had a tough bit but it was just the one piece.
I commend this place again for doing the one thing, which again puts me off going to other “places” that don’t do this (at their peril as I’m sure there are rules about it). She opened at the table a “sealed” bottle of water, it may seem like a small thing and I am picky but it really does mean a lot.
Meal came to £15ish but was well worth it I...
Read moreBeautifully decorated, lovely atmosphere and service was incredible. The only reason why I've knocked a star off is because of the lack of vegan options. There were 3 starters (plenty of variety), I had the corn fritters which were delicious! But the only options for main was the 'stir fry' with veg and tofu. They originally forgot the tofu but quickly sorted that out. The veg was beautifully cooked with a good crunch, but they said they could only use soya sauce for the sauce. Unfortunately it was quite bland. When I go out for a meal I want it to be something that I can't cook/ don't have time to cook at home and for it to be special.
Most Thai restaurants I've been to in the UK have a decent variety across the menu of things they can make vegan. Thai is one of my favourite cuisines and I was excited to see a local one open. Sadly I won't be returning for a stir fry though. I would love to see more options on the menu.
However, if you're an omnivore this place is amazing. The staff were attentive...
Read moreTravelled 9 hours to get here and it was soooo worth it. Absolutely delicious. Had Tom Yum, dumplings and pork skewers to start. Red duck curry, lamb massaman curry & belly pork stir fry (the first stir fry on the menu. Sticky rice and roti. The roti were amazing. I could just have eaten them by themselves. Saw others having the starter platters and they looked great too. The jasmine tea was perfect. The banana fritters had coconut in the fritter batter and a drizzle of honey. Everything was delicious. The staff were friendly and the food was served quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant. Book, it was packed on a Thursday...
