So disorganized, uninviting curb appeal, greeted by a big dog (not everyone likes big dogs regardless of temperament, not to mention allergies). Lots of products without price tag, employee kept having to look everything up, mind boggling how inefficient that system is. Couldn't negotiate on price without owner. When I mentioned several big ticket comics I needed, he couldn't say whether he had them or not and made no effort to try to find an answer. Can't believe they don't have an inventory system and can't believe he didn't try and assist me in locating several four figure books. All he basically said was to come back after they move to their new permanent location as this was a temporary one. When asked when that will be, "No idea". Any ballpark? "Could be weeks, months, a year, I couldn't say". š¤¦āāļø WOW. Seriously? Shockingly bad. Don't waste your time or money here with people pretending that they're running an actual comic book store business
Update to response from owner
You clearly have me confused with someone else. I came in alone, was never asked if I was ok with a dog, I go out of my way to support small business (which is obviously why anyone even comes to your store in the first place), your employee was not joking in the slightest (you wouldn't even know, it was just the two of us alone in the store), and I'm in no way a keyboard warrior. Out of 88 reviews 18 are one star. That's 20%, perfect distribution on a 1-5 scale.
Regardless, your response to my review proves my point that you're pretending you're running a business because nobody running a legitimate business would respond to an online review in such an unprofessional manner. It's a glorified hobby. And maybe next time consider listening to feedback like pricing your merchandise or even having an inventory system (again, basic things all legitimate businesses do) or you'll keep losing customers.
By the way, did you read the part where I said I was asking for several comics that cost thousands of dollars each? Yeah, probably not the type of customer you want to discourage from patronizing your store. But don't worry, I'm never coming back, and I'm going to tell everyone I know...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to a lot of game and comic stores throughout the West Coast and this is easily my favorite. As a BIPOC female nerd I don't feel welcome or safe at some of the other local nerd shops. I've been to Tectonic Comics dozens of times and have never been disappointed with the staff or regulars who frequent it. I don't usually use this term but the best way to describe it would be a "safe space". The Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I tend to be a more shy person but I'm always made to feel like I can ask questions without judgement. Bonus- they always try to accommodate my husband's disabilities which is really nice. It's obvious that they really care about the community and go above and beyond to show it.
The store itself is large and accessible. Good lighting and wide enough aisles that I can get through with my purse and not worry about knocking anything over. Clean with no sweaty funk smell that you find in some game stores. They sell a bit of everything RPGS, board games, comics, card games (Pokemon, MTG, Flesh and Blood etc), funko pops, collectables etc. and they're a hub for the local community. They also have some of the cleanest bathrooms I've seen in all of Aberdeen. My husband likes to go and hangout and learn about his special interests but never feels pressured to buy anything which is great. This is such a rare find these days and has quickly become mine and my husband's favorite local business. There's a reason they win so many awards for their business....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA local gem, you canāt go wrong with this comic book shop! The owner was really welcoming and friendly towards us and she helped our group find anything we needed. Theyāre celebrating four years of business thanks to running a very helpful, welcoming store with lots of variety. Loved their selection for tabletop gaming such as Dungeons in Dragons in particular, which they also have great deals on. They offer nice, clean tables to bring in your tabletop and card games to play with friends which was a really amazing experience for us to check out. Any questions weāve had they havenāt hesitated to discuss or refer us to other amazing comic/gaming stores & resources to help us get started. Tectonic comics stood out to me as a great place for comic and gaming enthusiasts alike to meet and play or to expand their collections. From what Iāve heard theyāre willing to go above and beyond to order a certain series, or make right a problem with your purchase. Donāt see how any avid reader or gamer could leave this store without something great or feeling unsatisfied, itās a nice place to go. Definitely worth stopping in thereās a lot to choose from entertainment wise even some pre-owned movies at bargain prices. Iāll definitely be taking friends and family back here to browse or game anytime weāre free, thankful for the warm welcome...
